Former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris, who delighted fellow Republicans and enraged Democrats when she halted the recount in the 2000 presidential election, says she knows why late-night comics always made fun of her makeup.

"It was because the newspapers colorized my photograph," she said last week on a radio show.
