State attorney taking a media beating

The St Petersburg Times is reporting...

In interviews this week with [Charlie Crist] and radio show host Pat Campbell on The [Bill O'Reilly] Factor, which airs on the Fox News Channel, O'Reilly repeatedly denounced the decision not to charge [John Couey]'s housemates with lying to law enforcement officers.

The prosecutors' reasoning is clear from the memo. The three were arrested on charges of resisting or obstructing an officer without violence. Sheriff's deputies say they spoke with Couey's housemates twice in the days after [Jessica Lunsford] vanished. None of the housemates told deputies that Couey, a registered sex offender who wasn't living where he was supposed to, was staying at the mobile home.

A reporter was unable to locate [Dorothy Dixon], [Madie Secord] and [Matthew Dittrich] for their comments on the prosecutors' decision. Dixon has previously said she knew Couey was a sex offender, but she didn't know anything about Jessica.
