U.S., Turkey Condemn Congressman's Remarks

ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) -- Top U.S. and Turkish officials on Tuesday condemned comments made last week by Rep. Tom Tancredo that the United States could ''take out'' Islamic holy sites if there was a nuclear attack on America by Muslim fundamentalists.

''You're talking about bombing Mecca,'' said talk show host Pat Campbell of WFLA-AM in Orlando, Fla.
''Yeah,'' Tancredo responded.

Let's see... PC asks Tancredo about terrorists nuking "6 or 7" American cities, Tancredo replies that nuking Mecca would be considered... and Howard Dean calls for an apology? How idiotic. Of course it would be on the table.
whoops... forgot to add that Tancredo added that it would have to be proved that it was fundamentalist extremist islamic terrorists.

Isn't Turkey that same country that changed its mind and refused to let the US use its bases during the Gulf War? Isn't that the same country that pursecutes the Kurds and wants to take over their territory in Iraq? Hmmmmm, I must be reading to many news reports.

Try using some intelligence folks, although I don't expect much from people who listen to and subscribe to Mr. Cambell's beliefs. Do you really think nuking a major religion's holy sites in Saudi Arabia, the 2nd or 3rd largest supplier of oil to the US is in our best interests? The people downwind in Iran surely would stop all work on nuclear weapons then, wouldn't they?

Nuking holy sites was just an example off the top of a type of response that can be considered. We all know that nuking us is only the tip of the iceberg. Our worst punishment is to have to listen to Ted Kennedy spout off another of his incomprehensible speechs.
