Clearly Harriet Miers IS NOT the most qualified candidate.
Choosing Miers, the president passed over outstanding judges and proven constitutionalists like Michael Luttig of the 4th Circuit and Sam Alito of the 3rd. And if he could not take the heat from the First Lady, and had to name a woman, what was wrong with U.S. appellate court judges Janice Rogers Brown, Priscilla Owens and Edith Jones?

I can't belive I voted for this idiot.
Considering the opposition that he is sure to encounter trying to get his next appointee through Congress, I believe that he didn't lie, but perhaps didn't finish his statement by adding that she is the best to get approval needed to fill the vacancy on the bench.
W is obviously sliding down a hill. I have difficulty understanding some of the idiotic decisions he has been making of late. All I can figure is that this must be a major payoff for something she has done for him in the past or perhaps something she "knows" about him. This type of appointment is not something to be taken lightly in that it is a lifetime appointment and none of us really knows where she stands on anything. She makes me very nervous.
You know, I think it takes a lot of gall (PAT) to call someone a liar. You don't know everything about this lady, maybe for what he wants to accomplish she is the most qualified to do it and the most qualified to get past the liberals. To call someone a liar, that is a terrible thing to do. I was extremely, extremely disappointed in you doing that.

Depends on what you consider "qualified". Qualified by your standards, maybe not. Qualified by the standards the president put, maybe so.
I, too, voted for the President. Consider the alternatives (Gore...Kerry). Yet, Dubya continues to disappoint me.
He always lies.... so what else is new.
