Didn't have much to say on the actual legality of it. I'm still left with the question that if 790.335 doesn't cover CWP holders, then what does it cover? And then what's the point of having a concealed permit that uncovers your cover?!

However, I did receive a response from Florida Rep. David Simmons who said that several House members are in discussion about this. "The power of the people" ...for once.

I write software for information exchanging businesses. It's all public. Names, addresses, everything. Did I ever want to post this info on a billboard or front page add in the newspaper? Not until now. Imagine the suprise of the employees of that station when they come to work and find that somebody has bought space and posted "their" info along side the I-4 parking lot. I'm sure none of them have anything to hide either.

In answer to Nicole's question, 790.335 is intended to ban a practice that is very common in other states and other countries, namely, registration of firearms to their owners. Registration is advertised as a safety measure but, besides being a colossal waste of money (see Canada's struggles in trying to fund their program), it is all about controlling people. If the government decides they don't like you, or your ethnicity or beliefs, or the particular type of gun you own, why they know exactly where to go and what to look for in your home when they decide it is time to disarm you. Today's example is the handgun ban they passed in San Francisco. If it stands, then every handgun owner in that city will have to turn them in. And how would they know if you had a handgun? Why from the state of California gun registry!
