Cindy Shehan wasn't the only one booted fore a controversial T-Shirt

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- The wife of Rep. C.W. Bill Young said she was ejected during President Bush's State of the Union address for wearing a T-shirt that said, "Support the Troops Defending Our Freedom," a newspaper reported Wednesday.

Beverly Young said she was sitting in the front row of the House gallery Tuesday night when she was approached by someone who told her she needed to leave, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

After reluctantly agreeing, she said, she argued with several officers in an outside hallway.
"They said I was protesting," she said in a telephone interview with the newspaper Tuesday. "I said, 'Read my shirt, it is not a protest.' They said, 'We consider that a protest.' I said, 'Then you are an idiot.'

"She was not ejected from the gallery. She did leave on her own," said Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, who said she could not provide further information.

Young, 50, said her shirt is a message of support for U.S. soldiers and Marines. She often wears such T-shirts when she visits her husband, a Republican from Indian Shores, at the Capitol, as well as troops who have been wounded.

Rep. Young found out about the incident after Bush's speech.
"I just called for the chief of police and asked him to get his little tail over here," Young said. "This is not acceptable."

9:32, you're right. Even if the t-shirt said, "USA" it would still be a t-shirt and therefore would be inappropriate for the SOTU.

.

It could have been worse; Shehan could have arrived naked. (Oh, what a horrible mental image that evokes!)

I suspect that this was more about the dress code than it was about ejecting dissenters. For a better example of screening attendees, go back to the Clintons' excuse for abandoning the governorship to run for the White House. Bubba ran for governor based upon the promise that he'd serve out his term as governor before running for any higher office, so he knew he had to make it appear that the state's voters approved of him breaking that promise. He and Hillary did this by going on a "listening tour." They went around the state and held meetings that were ostensibly open to the public to hear the public's comments upon the idea of breaking his promise and running for the presidency. In fact, the attendees were very carefully screened. Only those who supported the Clintons' plans were allowed in to the meetings. Not surprisingly, the press reports of those meetings gave the impression that the citizens were wholeheartedly in favor of Bubba's presidential aspirations.

By the way, expect Hillary to have a "listening tour" around New York before she abandons the Senate and runs for President.

Beverly Young was wearing that type of shirt LONG before we went down range after September 11, 2001, as well as before Shame-Han became the number 1 useful idiot. Bev probably just came from NNMC or WRAMC after she was offering, giving, hand holding etc of our Devil Dogs and Sailors (usually a Corpsman). I forget the year, it may have been '96 or so, when 2 C-130's collided on the tarmac at Pope Airforce Base, adjacent to Ft. Bragg, NC. Aboard both aircraft, there were 2 full lifts of 82nd Airborne Soldiers. The planes erupted into flames, killing numerous members of the "All Americans". With the help and advocacy of Beverly Young, each family of the dearly departed received $25,000 from a number of "evil conservatives". She has touched hundreds, if not thousands, of our troops. The entire Young family is this way. Numerous Marines, Soldiers, and Sailors have received many things with Mrs. Young's assistance, from paying for lodging to airfares, from navigating the registration within the Veterans Administration to having family members of said troops take a nap or a shower while she sat there with the wounded and/or dying. She has single handedly done more for the troops than the ENTIRE Democratic Socialist Party. Once, while at WRAMC, one of the contracted H1B Visa holding civilian Nurses wasn't giving the respect Beverly believed was due to a wife and 2 small children of a critically wounded member, not to mention the atrocious "language barrier" of the Nurse, Beverly went straight to the head of ward 57. After being read the riot act to the Major, Beverly had the family escorted to the Commanding General's office, she read him the riot act and the Nurse was removed from service, the patient was transfered the next morning to a private room at NNMC on 5 East.
Pssst, she really doesn't care too much for the "Bitch in a Ditch".Beverly Young doesn't SAY she supports us, she IS support to us.
Hey Cindy, You're a political prostitute. Shame on you. Your son is a Hero. Your a Zero!...and as far as the U.S. Capitol Police go, ...

P.S. Don't like the H1B reference? Call Rep. Elanor Holmes Norton's office on the "Hill". WRAMC's CG and Deputy Commander had their hands tied regarding contractors etc.
