I like the tamper proof biometric I.D. but don't let the government do it, farm it out to the pros at Visa of MasterCard.

What a slap in the face! 6000??? To cover a 2000 mile border 24/7 ??? We need at least 72000 men with guns down there. You should have at least 2 guys per 1/4 mile. Do the math, 40 hrs per week per man, less vacation and sick time. We need to cover the 168 hours in each week for the whole year for the entire 2000 mile border.

What's the plan to deal with all the document fraud, and identity theft involved with the illegal immigrants? Are we going to continue allowing them use their fake social security ID's, Drivers licenses, birth certificates after amnesty is granted and George W. (Worthless) Bush puts them on the road to citizenship? Someone needs to bring charges of treason against the President and various members of Congress that vote for this. They are all sellouts to the American people.

yea, our national guard in Florida thinks it is a good idea - and they are not going. does bush understand that the national guard is supposed to be part time? maybe we should call him up? what an idot.

Mel Martinez is the perfect example of why someone not born in the US should not be allowed to be President. It should be taken one step further, and if you are not born in the US, you should not be allowed to hold any elected office, including the House and Senate.
"Amnesty" = "Forgetting" NOT "Forgiving"
Sen. John McCain's and Sen. Chuck Hegel's plainspoken claims about the meaning of "amnesty" are just as plainly false: The English word "amnesty" came to us substantially unchanged from Classical Greek "amnest'ia" (where the "e" is an 'eta'); it means "forgetfulness"--as in "amnesia"--_not_ "forgiveness".
The Greek words meaning forgiveness" are completely different.
I feel a mixture of amazement & disappointment that no one seems to have made the nearly trivial effort to verify the alleged meaning of a word _highly_ relevant to the waaay overdue national debate on immigration.
