Is there a way commuter rail could work?

The elevated MegaRail Commuter Rail trains, sure make more sense than using the existing rail tracks of CSX. They wouldn't be tieing up the rail crossings and backing up vehicle commuters, like the proposed light rail surely will.

I thought Walt Disney came up with this idea back in the 70's.

People can't merge onto I-4 now! You expect them to be able to use this sytem where the car has to stop and board a "ferry". Can you imagine the miles of long lines that would be caused by a system like this? And how is a "one lane" rail system going to handle the amount of traffic that I-4 and other roads can't handle with three?

Any type of "rail" system is not going to work to reduce traffic unless it takes cars off the transportation routes. And until somebody comes up with a good enough incentive, I'm not giving up my car or the convienence and freedom that come along with it. We need bigger roads, more roads and systems in place to improve traffic flow.

Walt Disney came up with monorail, which is way expensive. Looking at this site it looks so much more efficient in building and maintenance cost and the ability to have cars drive up and on and even bus units that can enter and leave the track is just some really smart thinking. I had to blog about this over at Metroblogging Orlando, which the Sentinel picks up and keeps an eye on. Hopefully we can at least get some momentum going to get our officials to at least do a better job in exploring new tech to solve these problems and not sinking money into a ye olde rail to the sticks.

Are any of you willing to pay for everyone that rides.
The lite Rail they proposed will cost a billion, to start, and will carry 9000 passengers a day. Do the math.
The only way to approach this problem is to get the government out of the way... Completely!! That way some investment capitalist can build it and profit from it, run it efficiently and it won't cost us a dime!!
