Fewer early sign-ups as Army struggles to recruit soldiers

WASHINGTON — The Army, which expects to miss its 2005 recruiting goal by about 12,000, already is falling behind for next year. Read the rest of the article HERE.

Why is the Army failing to meet it's recruiting goal? Is it because, as my producer Alex says, Americans don't believe in this war the way they believed in WWII?

The reason the Army is falling behind in its recruitment goals is because for years it has been billed as sort of a Junior College...do a few years and then go to real college and Be All That You Can Be...Now it is about actually joining an Army, killing people and breaking stuff, not hoping for a posting in a nice sunny spot and working on your tan. Note the fact that some "soldiers" and their parents even sued the government for going to war--"Hey, that's not what I signed up for!" Oh yes, it is...

I think most Americans are smart enough to know that they have a good chance of going to war if they sign up. I think Americans would & have, & in the past have lined up by the thousands to defend their country. One has to ask them selves, Why aren't young men lining up to fight the "insugents in their last days" I mean after all its just a band of rag tag fighters vs the worlds dominant military super power, right. I also think that your producer ALex is simply genius, & really good looking! I think he adds so much to the show & needs more talk time! I hope he is thinking about a future political career.

Why sign up and die for nothing, while the chicken hawks and their kids make money off of it. You don't see the Bush twins signing up.

You've got a good point in your last posting. Most people would not get it, but the way you explained professional goal, it makes all the sense in the world. I should know because I post similar information about professional goal.
