Fla.-run insurer faces scandal
Tallahassee - A key executive with Florida's insurer of last resort has resigned amid allegations he accepted bribes from a firm hired to adjust hurricane damage claims.

R. Paul Hulsebusch stepped down as chief operating officer of Citizens Property Insurance two days after the firm was told of accusations he accepted gifts worth more than $25,000 from a Citizens contractor.

Hulsebusch had been hired to help state-run Citizens contend with a claims-handling crisis in the wake of four hurricanes last year.

Thursday, Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher asked for a criminal investigation into allegations against Hulsebusch.
