'A hard life' ends violently in area known for drug sales

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting...

A bullet that killed an Orlando man late Wednesday struck him in the chest within inches of a tattoo asking the eternal question, "WHY ME."

Death caught up with Zaus Walker on the shoulder of Lee Road, an area west of Interstate 4 known for hookers, high-priced steaks and late-night drug sales. He collapsed after stumbling through four lanes of traffic after the 9 p.m. shooting.
This is such a sad story. Zaus Walker dead at the age of 38. He was a father of 12! He spent the last 13 years of his life in jail. How is it possible for him to have 12 children? This part's even sadder.

On Thursday, someone erected a temporary memorial on a bloodstained section of Lee Road sidewalk. Plastic wrapping protected a teddy bear holding some of Walker's favorite things: a pack of Newport cigarettes, a $1.79 bottle of MD 20/20 Blue Raspberry wine cooler, and a three-piece Popeye's chicken-and-biscuit dinner.
This is what you're going to be remembered for? This is what your life was all about cigarettes, Mad Dog and Popeye's? How tragic!

Is that "memorial" a joke? If it is not, I should probably stop laughing...

Well, you know, even some of the most righteous, well-to-do people have started out at the bottom. Perhaps this gentleman just didn't turn the corner on his life yet. Does that make him worthless? Does that mean his death is somehow not important? You are only seeing things on the surface. So someone left cigarettes and chicken - so what! That's not what he's being remembered for; that's placing there for him the things that he loved most. When my brother was killed in Iraq, his comrades placed in his memorial a Marlboro and a can of Dr. Pepper. Does that mean that that's all they remember him for? No, it means they will always think of him when they see those things because they know how fond he was of them.

Try, just for a moment, having some compassion and perhaps seeing this man's death through the eyes of a mother, or a bestfriend; not through the eyes of some judgmental, holier-than-thou jerk!

PC - I can't believe how easily you cast your judgement on this man. May Jesus have mercy when he judges you!

Judging? Judging? Who's judging? Buy some Q-Tips and clean out your ears! Did you listen to my show this morning? I said this is a sad story a tragic story. 12 children are now fatherless. I also pointed out that no one has set up a trust fund to help the family with funeral expenses or to help the kids out.

"Try, just for a moment, having some compassion"

I'm the only one who seems to care about the broken lives left behind!

To the 2 anons that posted before this post:

Pat & I are not judging this clown by what he might have become. We are judging him on the first 38 years of his life.

To the person who lost a brother in Iraq. Marlboro's and a Dr Pepper for someone who died serving in Iraq can not be compared to that other clowns memorial or life.

Your brother deserves at least 1000 times the respect.

I am not sorry to say that as far as I am concerned, Newports, MD 20/20 & Popeye's chicken just says looser.
