Your Wednesday Morning Jack Attack Out of Harm's Way

Jack Thompson eats giants for breakfast. Just ask media giant and shock-jock Howard Stern, who ranted on air about the "one lunatic lawyer" who got him kicked off the air. Jack, an outraged father and activist lawyer, is on a mission to protect children from the violent and obscene video games, music lyrics, shock jock radio shows, and television programs he says are creating a culture of violence and degradation. Going beyond outrage, Thompson chronicles his own spiritual journey from bystander to activist and offers the sociological, medical, scientific, and legal evidence that will motivate all Americans--especially parents--to get involved.

Pat,
Please stop giving Jack Thompson attention. He is a self promoting idiot. His
ideas may sound good on the surface, but if you pressure him enough, he cannot
justify his beliefs. He is simply trying to make a name for himself. When
pressured about his anti-video game stance, rather than making reasoned
arguments, he calls people "idiots", "retarded", and various other ad hominem
attacks. He then attempts to use his position as a lawyer to bully people who
disagree with him threatening to friviously sue them, knowing full well that he
won't win, only trying to get people who disagree with him to shut up.

If it weren't for the fact that he keeps getting on major television and radio
networks, I wouldn't care. If you're going to have him on the show again,
please do some research on the internet about him first. Ask him the hard
questions about how he encourages children who commit violent crimes to try and
claim a video game trained them to do it (simply to try and make his argument
come true, through the legal system, even though it's not at all true in
reality). Ask him about how he offered to give $10,000 to charity if someone
would create a video game about killing video game executives. About how when
amatures started making the game themselves, he said "it was satire". About how
when confronted about the fact that he was basically holding money ransom from a
charity, because it was obvious even if a major game company did make the game
about killing game executives, he put so many caveats that he always had a way
out. About how he's basically holding $10,000 ransom from charity just to be a
jerk. About how some guys who run a small video game website actually did pay
the $10,000 to charity, and how Jack Thompson retaliated by trying to have them
arrested. Read the letter he wrote to the police department:

What kind of proper lawyer calls people "idiots" in a public document?
Not to mention the fact that the National Institute on Media and the Family
asked him to stop mentioning them in his attention-getting press releases:

The only thing Jack Thompson wants is attention. Please stop giving it to him.

Okay, here I come from the Jack Thompson "fan club." I think in some cases his tactics are a bit out there, but I think that his heart is in the right place and he is just trying to help. The first time I listened to him, he had me so upset that I was like others who turn the radio off when he is a guest. However, I have learned from him and support him on the issues he chooses to tackle. Too bad there aren't more men like Jack Thompson!

Jack Thompson here.

I'm an "idiot"? Methinks you Stern fans and video game addicts doth protest too much.

The reason I've been on NBC's Today show eight times alone is that the media and citizens (the ones without all their frontal lobes chewed away by hundreds of hours of playing Grand Theft Auto) know I have something to say, and the truth hurts!

The American Psychological Associaiton in August came out with its blockbuster report which endorses everything I have been saying and proving about the deleterious (for gamers, that word means "bad") effects of these murder simulators.

I'm speaking the truth to millions. Get over it. Jack Thompson

Hey Jack, you forgot to mention that your a republican who ran against Janet Reno.
Get over it Jack-queline. Your the caller who disagree's with the host man, your only getting attention because people love to hate you. And judging by the posts here, I'd say that's the truth.

Hey Jack (if that really is you posting),

It's pretty childish of you to come onto this little blog and defend your manhood with epithets and ad hominem. This is why people can't stand you -- not necessarily because of your message, but because of the arrogance and hostility with which you present it.

I'm not leaving my name because I don't want to deal with your barratry for daring to criticize you, like Tycho and Gabe did.
