New York-based designer giving $215 specialty sneakers to illegal immigrants for border run

A designer has come up with a $215. "specialty sneaker" made especially for illegal immigrants to get across the border. The shoes feature a compass, flashlight, and pockets for money or pain relievers, all to help them get into the U.S. illegally. The project is being financed by rich art benefactors- they and the artist deny taking any position on the issue, but they are.

Hat Tip to Perry Simon.

I get a kick out of the math in this story. My guess is that the shoes are worth $10 mfg value (TOPS).
However, the story says they are $215...an inflated price that is sure to show up in someone's tax deductions.
