Pentagon trying to censor top US political cartoonist

Pentagon trying to censor top US political cartoonist by John in DC - 2/01/2006 05:09:00 PM
The Joint Chiefs of Staff just sent a menacing letter to the Washington Post over a cartoon. AMERICAblog received a copy of the letter at 10AM this morning, but as its veracity was not yet confirmed, we waited until E&P was able to confirm that is is for real. Here's the letter the Joint Chiefs of Staff wrote to the Post.

"Poor Taste" is not excluded in the freedom's we endear in this country. I am fascinated that an overall assault is being engaged against the media community (of the world)relating to cartoons and comic vocals of Mohammad. Organizations such as CAIR and Islamic Jihad are on the march against such satire. When the United States begins such censorship we can rest assured that the documents which make us a target (Constitution - Bill of Rights)are truly under attack from both vantage points. WAKE UP AMERICA!

I pains me greatly to admit this, but I actually agree with "jeb." Poor taste is protected free speech.

Canada has already gone too far in censoring free speech. In Canada, if one were to say, for example, that islam is a demon-spawned religion, that person would be liable to criminal prosecution, fines, and prison time. Canada is more a cess pool of liberalism than California.

The Pentagon is indignant about cartoonists "making light" of a quadrpalegic soldier's condition, but I also notice that Rumsfeld and the Pentagon's bean counters lead the charge in denying medical benefits to disabled veterans. Methinks the Pentagon doth protest too much.
