Why are we celebrating another country's military victory?

History of Cinco de Mayo
IntroductionThe holiday of Cinco De Mayo, The 5th Of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, with some recognition in other parts of the Mexico, and especially in U.S. cities with a significant Mexican population. It is not, as many people think, Mexico's Independence Day, which is actually September 16.

Perhaps we should observe other great foreign military battles?

Can't believe Seminole County Skools are closed for Cinco De Mayo. No wonder they have to start school 31 July, in the middle of the summer. Good reason to vote out the current school board members running for election in November.

All the Mexican kids were off school on Monday for protests and last Thursday, Friday for protest practice.. Now a Cinco De Mayo Holiday... How do you expect them to learn English, when there are more important things to do. Don't forget the counterprotest scheduled in Crawford Texas for Saturday 6 May. I've been practicing all week... Let's see if we can get over 1,000 people to attend the counterprotest... Don't forget your Europeon flags. Sign up now at this website.
