Do we need to go back to the Moon?
NASA has announced plans for a new Moon Mission by 2020, with an international base camp established on the Moon by 2024. A price tag for the mission hasn't yet been set.
Space journalist and talk show host Steve Kates ("Dr Sky") says he is particularly excited about a new Moon mission.
For a long time, Kates says, NASA has looked for an affordable way to get back to the Moon. Now, with the prospect of mining a very rare isotope, Helium 3, a number of private firms have become engaged. Helium 3 is an alternative fuel that could help us further reduce our fossil fuels dependence.
