North Carolina governor: Stay home for Labor Day

Democrat warns: 'We're not out of gas, but we are running low'

North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley is urging people to stay at home for the Labor Day weekend and save gasoline.

Should Jeb Bush do the same? After all it is nonessential travel. It could hurt us more than help us here in Central Florida where our economy relies so heavily on tourism.

Pat,
One way to stem this gasoline shortage issue is to start making ethanol enriched fuel more widely available. It seems to me it's cost competitive and it's a renuable source that can be grown domestically.

Of course I can just hear the tree huggers calling it "franken-gas"... :-)

i think someone should fly over new orleans and start dropping food and stop making excuses. we were able to rescue people in grenada with people firing at us, we knew days before the "second disaster" that new orleans would be filled with water so we must have had a plan with stand-by troops, in other words, jeb bush can say travel and the other governor can say stay at home. who cares?

It has become overwhelmingly clear over this past week that what Rush has been saying for years is right: Liberals do nothing but preach doom and gloom. I'm sorry, but I've had enough of the negativity.

We do need to do something to correct our gas situation, which has shown over the last two day to have little margin for error in supply. When consumers get "freaked out" ans start purchasing gas outside of their normal purchase habits, a.k.a stoacking up, then we experience this temporary fuel shortage.

We need to build more refinery's! We need to reduce the environmental restrictions, so that we do not have to manufacture 95 million different types of gas for California. We need to start drilling for more oil in the U.S. Screw Senators Nelson and Martinez - we need to be drilling off the coast of Florida as well as in Alaska and Colorado. These are real solutions! Have any liberals come up with any viable solutions - no, they just whine and bitch!
