Bush plans anti-illegals campaign

President Bush today will call for a crackdown on illegal immigration, a move aimed at further rallying conservatives who recently cheered Mr. Bush's tough talk on Iraq and the Supreme Court.
But the president will also renew his call for a program to allow Mexicans who have already entered the U.S. illegally to remain here for up to six years. That initiative has long angered conservatives who equate it with amnesty.
"This is going to be about comprehensive immigration reform," a senior White House official said of today's Arizona speech. "He's going to talk about the three elements that comprise such reform -- border security, interior enforcement and a temporary worker program."
Is Bush serious about cracking down on illegal immigration or just giving us lip service? I'll be looking for 3 things today. 1) If he's serious he'll announce the use of the Military to secure the borders. 2)He'll crack down hard and heavy on those that employ illegal immigrants. 3) He'll announce some form of tamper proof ID everybody must have to work in the U.S.(i.e. Social Security cards using the technology we use for credit cards). If any of these 3 are missing he isn't serious.

While driving to work this morning I listened to you call for what in effect would be a "national ID card" (your papers please!); and one of your callers suggesting that neighbor spy on neighbor and turn them over to the authorities!

Sounds a lot like what must have been happening in nazi Germany around 1933.

Add to this the fact that their are large, well funded, groups of "americans" attempting to have law abiding citizens dis-armed - what a scary situation.

"Those that would give up their freedom for the promise of security deserve neither"!

We already havea national ID card it's called social security.

I don't remember the Nazi's having a big problem with illegal immigration? In fact they were usually the uninvited guests.

The nazi's used national ID cards and gun confiscation to rid themselves of undesirables a/k/a jews!

We are heading towards a very slippery slope.....

No one is calling for gun confiscation. Just tamper proof ID.

What's your solution naysayer?

Bush is only giving lip service. If he cracks down on illegals, Vicente Fox will start slowing the flow of Mexican oil, and Bush fears that. Reducing the flow of oil to the U.S.won't hurt Mexico any, because the Chinese are there waiting for Mexico to make some oil deals to feed China's growing idustrial energy needs.

At the time Hitler joined the Nazi party, there were many small groups advocating restrictions upon the influx of "inferior" eastern Europeans and others who were flooding Germany, looking for work during the Great Depression. It was a sore spot for many Germans. In that respect, the situation is similar to the situation in most "white" countries today (e.g., the U.S., Europe, Australia, Russia, Kosovo, etc.), where the white (non-muslim)population is decreasing, and the non-white population is increasing, primarily due to immigration, both legal and illegal. (Actually, Kosovo is the exception, because it has already fallen to the muslim "ethnic Albanians" who had slowly infilitrated over the border for many decades much as the Mexicans are coming over our border today, until they were the majority. When they were a large enough percentage of the population, they demanded and received significant autonomy from Serbia, at which time they immediately began persecuting non-muslim Serbs in what had once been a Serb land. The Serbs were not happy with that situation, so they elected Milosivic, who, like Hitler, promised to deal with the immigant problem. The rest is history.)

It's just a matter of time until that happens to Europe, the U.S., Australia, etc.

It's all lib service, whoops, I mean Lip service (and not very good) until we start seeing some action. Give me the guns, men and authority, I will stop the illegal flow in one week.

We don't need any stinking national ID card, all we need is a little enforcement of the laws we already have.

The Holy Spirit's message on The Christian Prophet blog is that borders themselves are illegal, and the problem is not borders but the welfare state.

The Democrats suggested the idea of a national ID card and of course the Republicans went ballistic. Now the tables have changed.

We need some type of tamper proof ID that can't be forged. What's your plan?

At 9:13 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

How about tattooing a bar code on everybody's forehead.

Using identifying marks on arms won't work anymore. One can live without an arm - but not a head!!!

Pat,

There is no such thing as tamper-proof or counterfeit-proof ID... short of, as has been suggested, stamping bar codes on people's heads or something similar. And if that were to happen, never mind the moral implications of giving the State that much power over human life, what happens when there are errors in the database?

I can't believe you told one caller this morning (about 7:45), in essence, that he was nuts for opposing your "tamper-proof ID" idea, yet 15 minutes later you were complaining about the Miami police wanting to do spot checks of people's IDs. You can't have it both ways! Issuing IDs to people is pointless if we don't check them! Why not just put transponders in people's skulls and track them, and have an alarm go off anytime an unregistered person passes by, or a registered person goes where he's not supposed to. That will solve everything... right?

Oh, and "what's my solution"?

Proper border security would help. Enforced by shoot-to-kill orders if necessary. We most certainly could achieve it if we wished.

But this will never happen because there is too much economic incentive for employers of illegal workers here in the US. Why do you think your fruit and your new houses are so cheap?

Let me address these in reverse order. Number 3. Social Security is adaquate if they bring tecnology up to date. It was good enough for many years and can be just as good with updated technology. But this very card is extremly dangerous, because of id theft.
Number 2. Yes. Prosocute heavily those companies who hire IA's. You can easily tell by the wages paid, regardless of the quality of the fake Id's carried by non english speaking people, duh!!!
Number 1. Sorry Pat, but I think that dropping back to our borders with our military would send a signal to all who hate us that we are retreating. Don't want that

Truthfully i think that the U.S should help mexico with its economy and help the illegals already here. The illegals here can then support familys in their own country so no more have to come and with the economic help more people can find jobs in mexicowith good pay and dont have to come here, plus these illegals help our own economy also,, people say they take fromt he goverment like welfare..ect by 3 million dollars... but in reture their labor gives us over 100 million doallrs of profit
