New details emerge in the Dave Swafford story.

Check out Tom Lyons thought provoking column in the Herald Tribune...

Reports that give details of the girl's allegation haven't been released, but solid sources tell me the accusation was this: Mathis supposedly kept the girl in class for at least several minutes after the other students left, grabbed her underwear from behind to give her what is commonly called a wedgie, and tugged her shirt and said words to the effect that he would let her leave if she gave him a look beneath that shirt.
Remember when I asked Dave Swafford for details? Is this what the daughter meant when she said the teacher's assistant inappropriately touched her?

Did Manatee Superintendent of Schools Roger Dearing rush to clear the assistant teacher? Should he have waited for the Sheriff's Dept. to complete a more thorough investigation of what amounts to a serious charge?
