On Fox News Fearless HLI Priest Takes on Sean Hannity over Contraception, Hannity ‘Loses it’

THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Conservative commentator Sean Hannity's support for contraception and a segment on his TV show has led to criticism of him as a dissenting "cultural Catholic," led by a priest who heads a major pro-life group and who said Mr. Hannity should be denied Communion.
"I have no problem with birth control. It's a good thing," Mr. Hannity has said, prompting the Rev. Thomas Euteneuer, president of Human Life International, to send a mass e-mail last week calling the Fox News Channel and talk-radio host's repeated public defenses of contraception "just devastating for the faith of others who may be weak or vacillating in this area."
"We have enough pretenders to the title of Catholic in public life without being treated to superficial assessments of profound moral issues. ... Public Catholics like Hannity have no right to profess 'another Gospel,' or the faith of millions -- and indeed their own souls -- are in serious jeopardy," Father Euteneuer said.

The Pope just came out with something yesterday, about divorced Catholic's cannot receive communion, and Catholic's that believe abortion is right, should also be denied. So let me see here... Priest's molesting children for years.. The church aiding and supporting illegal immigrants entering this country. So devout Catholic's raised since children in the religion, are now being shunned because they disagree with some of the teachings and beliefs, but are/were loyal parishoners otherwise.

Well.. heh Jim Jones; pass me another cup of that Koolaide..

To Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer:

I wish you would come down on the Rabid Militant ProAborts like Kennedy,Pelosi, Ridge & Giuliani the way your coming down on
Hannity. Would you deny these four communion?

I was gonna ignore this thread, but now, I guess, perhaps "the spirit moves me."

I would guess that Euteneuer is philosophically and politically a liberal, thus he, like the rest of us humans, is more inclined to dismiss or even not notice the warts on his liberal mates while at the same time feeling outrage at the pimples on the faces of his philosophical opposites. I guess that would explain the apparent hyposcrisy of spanking Hannity and ignoring the Kennedy, Kerry, et al deviation from canon law, etc.

I was going to ignore this thread, because, imho, there is no such thing as a separate priesthood in Christianity (All Christians are automatically priests under the one High Priest, Jesus.); there is no such thing as sacraments, thus there is no need for these sacraments to be administered by the imaginary priest class, which leads to the inevitable conclusion that denying communion to anybody is meaningless; and the roman catholic denomination has a centuries-old history of playing temporal politics while internal politics roils the denominational hierarchy, all of which leads to interesting and sometimes seemingly contradictory declarations, actions, etc. on the part of the denominational "authorities." It's all somewhat interesting, but ultimately meaningless. This Hannity controversy ranks right up there with determining the number of angels able to simultaneously dance on the head of a pin.

For those who are tempted at this point to jump on me as a hateful anti-catholic who knows nothing of catholicism, I was (unfortunately) raised in a very catholic family, and spent twelve years in catholic schools. It took me years to slowly unlearn all of the indoctrination and programming. I know as much about it as any cradle catholic, and perhaps more than most.

It's not how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, it's how many can do it on the point of a needle--which, of course, makes more sense.

If the angel is the size of Rosie
O'Donnell the answer is one!

To bill "the idiot whatever":

It did not take years for you to unlearn truth i.e. catholicism.

You don't unlearn knowledge like some bad habit.

Rather years of living in sin has clouded you intelect.

Come back to the Church of Rome. Come back to confession before it's too late.

Nice ad hominem. It's what I've come to expect from catholics. You can't discuss the facts, so launch personal attacks. Let me guess: In addition to being a catholic, you're a Democrat.

The more I learn from God's word, the bible, the more I realize that Rome has strayed far from the truth.

This isn't the proper forum for a full discussion of this subject, so I'll pass on your next ad hominem attack / regurgitation of denominational nonsense.

To bill "clearly the idiot":

What’s wrong bill? Hit a little too close to the heart maybe? What sin is it bill, that you are unwilling to confess? From my experience these things are usually sins of the flesh. Let me guess, you have divorced and re-married? You don’t need to tell me bill... tell the priest in the confessional while there’s still time.

As far as FACTS are concerned, the FACT of the matter is that you haven’t presented any FACTS, only guesses and humble opinion.

In the spirit of true Christian charity I will offer 1 pater and 10 aves for the conversion of your soul at 9:50 PM on 3/26/07.

Most priests that offer Mass in the presence of the likes of Kerry and Hannity probably don't believe in transubstantiation and use incorect form for the consecration of the wine anyway ("pro multis" means "for many," not "for all"). Thus, these folks are probably receiving a Novus Ordo cookie.
