Fox, MSNBC, and CNN picking up the Tancredo story.

Tancredo: If They Nuke Us, Bomb Mecca

DENVER — A Colorado congressman told a radio show host that the U.S. could "take out" Islamic holy sites if Muslim fundamentalist terrorists attacked the country with nuclear weapons.

Rep. Tom Tancredo (search) made his remarks Friday on WFLA-AM in Orlando, Fla. His spokesman stressed he was only speaking hypothetically.

Talk show host Pat Campbell (search) asked the Littleton Republican how the country should respond if terrorists struck several U.S. cities with nuclear weapons.

"Well, what if you said something like — if this happens in the United States, and we determine that it is the result of extremist, fundamentalist Muslims, you know, you could take out their holy sites," Tancredo answered.

"You're talking about bombing Mecca," Campbell said.

"Yeah," Tancredo responded.

The congressman later said he was "just throwing out some ideas" and that an "ultimate threat" might have to be met with an "ultimate response." Read the rest HERE.

Here's the CNN version.

Here's the MSNBC version.

Does this gibbering idiot of a congressman Tancredo even realize that retaliating against nuclear terrorists by bombing Muslim holy sites is as counterproductive as fumigating a building with phosgene? Or, perhaps we should nuke Jerusalem, too, after all, it's the 3rd holiest city in Islam, too.
Does this moron even realize that destroying Mecca to get back at Al Qaeda would serve only to alienate the ENTIRE MUSLIM WORLD??? Exactly how would the war on Terrorism go if Saudi Arabia were to declare war on us for obliterating their holy sites? At the very least, it would help to drive gasoline prices through the roof.

Oh, and one more thing, Al Qaeda doesn't even care about holy sites. The fact that Al Qaeda bombers have repeatedly bombed mosques in Iraq and Pakistan with the specific intent to murder other Muslims help prove this.

I wish our leaders and PC crowd would finally wake up and realize that the Muslim religion is at war with the west. They preach their hatred in the mosques, recruit their murderers in the mosques, their religion and governments financially support the terrorists, etc. Every time a terrorist strikes, the "mainstream" Muslim community remains silent or half-heartily condemns the bombing while loudly worrying out loud if their will be a "backlash".

I agree with Congressman Tancredo that we should nuke the Muslim holy sites, especially Mecca, if we are nuked by these Muslim terrorists. Personally I think right now we should also target these clerics that preach this hatred and recruit these terrorists. We should target them for assassination no matter what country they are hiding in. I also think our government should target the families of these terrorists and clerics. For example, one terrorist in London had a wife and newborn baby. Some of the 9/11 terrorists had wives and children here in the USA. They should not be allowed to live and the terrorists given notice that their families are not safe from us. Cruel, yes, but our enemy is much crueler and personally I don't think they should be allowed to reproduce. This is a brutal war after all.

Be safe and be well

Notice fink and hurah give no indication of what their response would be to a multi-city nuclear attack. Anyone with a working brain cell must realize that something so catastrophic would require a proportionate response. We need not worry about "alienating the muslim world", our support for Israel has already done that. Tancredo is probably the best congressman on Capitol Hill and took the unusual step of giving an honest and realistic answer to the question that was posed to him.
