Death may lead to tailgating curbs
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting...
A ban on alcohol at future University of Central Florida football games and curbs on tailgating are measures a new task force will consider after an Orlando police officer shot and killed an undercover campus policeman during a rowdy pre-game gathering Saturday.Does this make any sense? Punish the fans because the cops screwed up?

Hey Pat, how are these people drinking going to get home? "Designated Driver", huh? Yeah right. I'm glad they banned the drinking, especially when it might save some lives on the road!
I agree...what a bunch of hooligans. These educational officials at this school should get this under control....we all went to college to have fun get stupid...but it seems all these florida colleges just turn out drunks...
What happens if Ed falls down the stairs tomorrow, breaks his neck and dies? Are we going to ban all structures over one story tall. Give me a break people.
Yes, underage drinking is a problem, but it is, by far, no worse of a problem than those who are of age, drinking, and acting ridiculous. The only really guilty person I see in this tragic situation is one macho, stupid, dead cop that got himself into a situtation he could have easily avoided.
To the woman that called about jurusdiction, campus police are considered State Police officers (like troopers).
I still can't believe your segment this morning Pat. What's the use of drinking at the tailgating parties anyway? So people can get drunk, act stupid, and get in fights. That's what alchohol does, gets people riled and upset. If you are an adult wanting to drink at the tailgating, can that adult not be a big person enough to say "it's best for the underage drinkers that I don't" especially since it's their school? What happened to being role models? I know you are upset because they banned it over the shooting, but if there wasn't an underage drinking problem in the first place, the sting wouldn't have been going on and the guy would still be alive! I'd like to know the blood alchohol level on the people who were in the fight or the guy in the hospital!
I can't believe the attitude of those calling in. As for "Nicole"... she said she would have shot him too... What a winner... I'm sick of all of the second guessing going on... let the investigation happen, then when it is complete we can castigate those involved... until then shut up, pray for the families and hope that you never have to be in that situation...as for the alcohol, if you can't go a game without drinkin... you might be an alcoholic...
Only in Florida! Folks, millions upon millions of people tailgate every weekend this time of year at college and pro football games, without incident. It seems to me that these types of sad situations are a magnet for the state of Florida. Do we just have a disproportional number of people stuck on stupid? Tailgaiting is not the crime here. For those of you who think tailgaiting is barbaric or something only imbeciles do, don't worry, it's a proven fact that masturbation does not lead to blindness. Why can't people just get together, have a good time, eat some good food, and ,yes, drink some alcoholic beverages? I'm starting to get real pissed off that my right to pursue happiness is slowly being taken away as a result of one unfortunate events after another.
People rights aren't being taken away, it's just a smart and responsible thing to do, especially for the underage drinkers. You wouldn't go to an elementary game with a beer in your hand??? What's the difference about a college game, the people playing are still UNDERAGE! (If you would bring beer to an elementary game, I'd seriously consider you an alcholic and a menace to society!) What's the harm, you can still have fun, why do you have to have the alcohol to have fun? No reason, it's a mind set. Try attending one of these without the DRUG and see how much fun you have (and how less stupid you will look as all do when they get drunk).
Thanks, I have attended many tailgating parties, do not drink and have loads of fun before going to watch a great game. What's the difference between tailgating and having a big bar-b-q in a park somewhere.
Yes, if tailgating is declared "illegal" or it becomes policy to not allow it, then my rights have been eroded. If you can't see that, then you truly are stuck on stupid!
I think some people are having a hard time separating the act of tailgating from the act of getting drunk and acting like a fool. The two are completely unrelated and sometimes happen simultaneoulsly. Drinking heavily and making an ass of yourself in public is what needs to be "curbed", not tailgating.
i think we all need to just calm down a bit before we end up with the lundsford act of tailgating.
Hey, I never said I don't want tailgating, I just agree with eliminating alcohol from the tailgating parties at the college games. No reason for it! I've said no different, all along if you actually know how to read! You might not be stuck on stupid, your just plain stupid!
Mama always said, "stupid is as stupid does."
Once again we are faced with the possibility of having the government (local) step in and make decisions for us. Is underage drinking really that much of a problem? Are ALL the tailgaters getting drunk and causing problems? This is a real tragedy for everyone involved, but making tailgaiting illegal sounds like a pretty drastic step to me.
Barbara Walters is an uninformed idiot that would be the first to scream for some stupid macho cop to bail her stupid butt out of a dangerous situation...IDIOT!
No, I would scream for George Bush or my hunky honey, Ed Bradley. Ed could hit people over the head with his oxygen tank.
John who called Pat and who now called Bud is a complete f***ing a**hole!!!!!!!
What a dipsh**!!!!!
