Nixzmary was at home on Jan. 10 when her stepfather, Cesar Rodriguez, went to the store and bought yogurt. Later, when one of the yogurts was missing, Rodriguez allegedly flew into a rage and blamed the 7-year-old.
According to Brooklyn District Attorney Charles J. Hynes, the stepfather banished the girl to a rodent-infested room with a litter box filled with feces and urine, a wooden chair tied to a radiator and dirty mattresses.
Rodriguez later beat Nixzmary, stripped her naked and dragged her into the bathroom, where he began running cold water in the tub and dunked her head beneath the water, Hynes alleged. The girl was dead the next morning.
Rodriguez and the girl's mother, Nixzaliz Santiago, were indicted Tuesday on charges of second-degree murder, child endangerment and assault. The mother allegedly ignored the loud thumping noises and cries for help that came from the bathroom.

In a case like this, spay and neuter the adults. (stealing your thunder, Pat, but I totally agree.)
This little girl was abandoned by so many adults that it is pathetic. DCF should have heads rolling from the false reports of home visits.
The story literally sickened me. That poor innocent precious little girl. At least now she will have peace. Her short life must have been absolute hell.
I think I have heard it all and then something like this comes along. YOGURT??? Shame on all of the adults who did nothing!!!
Fire-ant mounds? Vegetable peelers? That sounds like cruel (which is ok) and unusual punishement to me. I say we go back to what was once a usual punishment, tried and true: keelhauling.
From our resident racists it sounds like hypocrisy that you would have any feelings for a girl of color. In any case her tormenter couldn't help it after all he is hispanic and cannot help it. It is in his genes and culture. Onward white christian soldiers!

Usually people express their opinions here, however weird, they sometimes are, but would it be possible to delete Sick Boy when he goes potty mouth? I think some rules of civility would be in store here.
