$2000 Debit Cards to Be Passed Out to Hurricane Victims

(CNSNews.com) - Victims of Hurricane Katrina will soon receive debit cards worth $2,000 each, courtesy of the federal government, The Associated Press reports. The first-of-its-kind cash card program will initially go to those stranded at rescue centers like the Houston Astrodome. The program was reportedly launched as a result of a conference call Homeland Security Department officials made to state leaders Wednesday morning. The debit cards can be used to buy food, transportation, gas and other items the victims need, officials said.

If there wasn't enough chaos, there will be when people start looting these plastic cards from each other. People will lose them, and claim they were stolen, and people will just plain steal them. Many of the displaced citezens have never had that much 'expendable' income before. It's like throwing wads of cash into a crowd: only magnified. I hope there is a good way to implement this without the chaos and strife I predict.

This is another corrupt give-away program. Well the crack addicts in the astrodome must be in heaven. I wonder if the line will ever end.
