Woman refused to leave PIKE house in mid-afternoon

Police have been unable to locate a woman who entered the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house without permission on Thursday and began to masturbate on a couch.

While fraternity members were eating in the dining room, a woman entered the house's living room, took off her clothes and started masturbating, said LSA junior Dan Nye, the president of the Washtenaw Avenue fraternity.

No one saw the woman enter the house or knew how she got in. Nye said she could have entered through the front door, which was left propped open while it was being repaired.

Fraternity members asked the woman to leave the house, but she refused and continued masturbating for about half an hour, Nye said.

When members asked the woman if she was all right, she casually replied that she was fine, he said. The woman was talking on her cell phone at one point, said LSA sophomore Adam Bayard, a member of the fraternity.

She walked out of the front door wearing only a thigh-length black coat after a fraternity member called the police, Nye said. When police arrived minutes later, the woman had already left.

According to a police report, the woman was between 20 and 30 years old, had short brown hair and appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

"Obviously, she was very disturbed," Nye said. "It was not how a normal person would respond to people."

The woman told fraternity members that her name was Melissa and she was a student at Eastern Michigan University, according to the police report.

Fraternity members said they will throw out two couches in the living room because of the incident, Nye said.

Police said the break-in appeared to be an isolated incident.

In the eight page report obtained by TMZ, Dr. Perper describes, in detail, the condition of Anna's body.

The report lists every mark on Anna's body, even tattoos. Smith's body art included the words "Daniel" and "Papas," a pair of red lips, a Playboy bunny, a combination of a Christ head, a bible, a naked women's torso and a smiling Marilyn Monroe among others.

On a positive note, Anna's fingernails and toenails were both listed as "clean."

Here's something you won't be hearing from the MSM as we observe the 4th anniversary of the start of the war.

However, a survey of more than 5,000 Iraqis by Opinion Research Business, a reliable pollster, gives an utterly different view. It shows a country which is far more optimistic than anyone would have expected. By two to one, Iraqis say that life is better under the present system. There is, as might be expected, a clear Sunni-Shi’ite split. But even 29% of Sunnis, who had it pretty easy under Saddam, say things are better now. This result, when you take into account the fear, the bloodshed, the power cuts, the lack of water and the sheer struggle of everyday life, is remarkable. Nor was the poll conducted among people who have been shielded from the worst of the violence. One in four of those questioned has had a member of their family murdered in the conflict and a similar proportion have seen relatives displaced, many of them forced to flee abroad.

There is something else significant in the poll. Only a quarter of Iraqis think their country is in civil war. And they also believe, by two to one, that security will improve once American and British troops withdraw. This is a rejoinder to those who believe withdrawal would unleash an all-out struggle between Shi’ites and Sunnis. The current American troop surge appears to have been a considerable success in reducing levels of violence, again contrary to conventional wisdom. True, it may be temporary, but it is working.

Conservative commentator Sean Hannity's support for contraception and a segment on his TV show has led to criticism of him as a dissenting "cultural Catholic," led by a priest who heads a major pro-life group and who said Mr. Hannity should be denied Communion.
"I have no problem with birth control. It's a good thing," Mr. Hannity has said, prompting the Rev. Thomas Euteneuer, president of Human Life International, to send a mass e-mail last week calling the Fox News Channel and talk-radio host's repeated public defenses of contraception "just devastating for the faith of others who may be weak or vacillating in this area."
"We have enough pretenders to the title of Catholic in public life without being treated to superficial assessments of profound moral issues. ... Public Catholics like Hannity have no right to profess 'another Gospel,' or the faith of millions -- and indeed their own souls -- are in serious jeopardy," Father Euteneuer said.

Should Alberto Gonzales be fired?

Amid a growing furor after the controversial firing of eight U.S. attorneys last December, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales went before reporters yesterday (March 13th) and admitted his department mishandled the dismissals. But while accepting responsibility for that, he stood by the decision to fire the eight, saying it was appropriate: ["I acknowledge that mistakes were made here. I accept that responsibility. And my pledge to the American people is to find out what went wrong here, to assess accountability, and to make improvements so that the mistakes that occurred in this instance do not occur again in the future."] SOUNDCUE (:19 OC: . . . in the future.)

Democrats have charged that the dismissals were politically motivated, with some of the attorneys saying they felt pressured by top Republicans in their states to rush investigations of potential voter fraud involving Democrats. Justice Department officials, including Gonzales, went before Congress and said under oath that the decision was made solely by the Justice Department and was based on performance, not politics. However, emails were released yesterday (March 13th) between Gonzales' chief of staff, Kyle Sampson, and then-White House Counsel Harriet Miers, that showed the firings were discussed for two years by officials in both the White House and Justice Department.

In the wake of the emails being released, Sampson resigned his position Monday.

Gonzales said yesterday that he was unhappy that incorrect information was given to Congress: ["I believe very strongly in our obligation to ensure that when we provide information to the Congress that it's accurate and that it is complete, and I'm very dismayed that that may not have occurred here."] SOUNDCUE (:10 OC: . . . have occurred here.) He said Sampson didn't tell other Justice Department officials about the extent of his discussions with the White House, and that's why incomplete information was given to Congress. Gonzales said he was among those who wasn't given all the details, and explained that Sampson had resigned effective immediately as a result of the miscommunication.

There were also major newspaper reports yesterday that the White House had suggested two years ago that all 93 of the nation's U.S. attorneys be fired, but the idea was rejected as being too disruptive. And the Washington Post and New York Times cited a White House spokesperson as saying the eight attorneys were fired after President Bush spoke to Gonzales about complaints that some of them were not energetically pursuing voter fraud investigations.

Hillary Clinton knows all about sacking U.S. Attorneys

As everyone once knew but has tried to forget, Mr. Hubbell was a former partner of Mrs. Clinton at the Rose Law Firm in Little Rock who later went to jail for mail fraud and tax evasion. He was also Bill and Hillary Clinton's choice as Associate Attorney General in the Justice Department when Janet Reno, his nominal superior, simultaneously fired all 93 U.S. Attorneys in March 1993. Ms. Reno--or Mr. Hubbell--gave them 10 days to move out of their offices.

At the time, President Clinton presented the move as something perfectly ordinary: "All those people are routinely replaced," he told reporters, "and I have not done anything differently." In fact, the dismissals were unprecedented: Previous Presidents, including Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter, had both retained holdovers from the previous Administration and only replaced them gradually as their tenures expired. This allowed continuity of leadership within the U.S. Attorney offices during the transition.

Equally extraordinary were the politics at play in the firings. At the time, Jay Stephens, then U.S. Attorney in Chicago, was investigating then Ways and Means Chairman Dan Rostenkowski, and was "within 30 days" of making a decision on an indictment. Mr. Rostenkowski, who was shepherding the Clinton's economic program through Congress, eventually went to jail on mail fraud charges and was later pardoned by Mr. Clinton.

ANNEXING MEXICO: WHY IT’S THE BEST SOLUTION TO THE IMMIGRATION PROBLEM

They come by the hundreds of thousands. Mexican immigrants hungry for work and a better life. They make a desperate journey, risking their lives to sneak through America’s back door. Each year, the U.S. spends tens of billions dollars on illegal aliens, raising the ire of taxpayers and making immigration one of today’s most contentious issues in American politics. So instead of keeping Mexicans out, why not bring America to them?

“The border between the United States and Mexico isn’t just a boundary between nations; it’s a chasm that separates a wealthy global superpower from a poverty-stricken Third World Country,” says political columnist and author Erik Rush. “Until drastic improvements are made in Mexico so that half the population is no longer living in poverty, the massive influx of illegal immigrants will continue.”

In 2006, the U.S. spent $12 billion on border enforcement. But trying to make all 2,000 miles of border impenetrable is like trying to carry water in a sieve. In his new book, “Annexing Mexico: Solving the Border Problem Through Annexation and Assimilation,” Rush makes a strong case for a peaceful annexation of Mexico.

“We’re like a dog chasing its tail,” says Rush. “We spend billions of dollars each year to keep immigrants out, then billions more on their education and healthcare once they get here anyway. We’d be smarter to spend those billions to annex and improve Mexico. We would solve the immigration problem and reap a host of other benefits.”

Balancing the costs and benefits of annexing Mexico is a monumental project. Rush points out that the amount the U.S. spends on illegal immigration now could easily build Mexico’s infrastructure, improve the quality of life and help America fight the war on terror.

“The first step is conceding that patrolling the border does not and will not work,” says Rush. “We have terrorists sneaking across the border-- and they’re not looking for jobs. After annexation, we’d be in a better position to protect ourselves from terrorist infiltration by heavily fortifying Mexico’s narrow southern tip which is much easier to defend.”

“Our population is growing so rapidly in the U.S.,” says Rush. “We need some relief. Mexico desperately needs relief. It’s ludicrous for a line in the sand drawn more than a century ago to divide ‘the haves’ from ‘the have nots’ when a peaceful union can benefit everyone.”

Gingrich admits to extramarital affair

WASHINGTON - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich acknowledged he was having an extramarital affair even as he led the charge against President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair, he acknowledged in an interview with a conservative Christian group.

"The honest answer is yes," Gingrich, a potential 2008 Republican presidential candidate, said in an interview with Focus on the Family founder James Dobson to be aired Friday, according to a transcript provided to The Associated Press. "There are times that I have fallen short of my own standards. There's certainly times when I've fallen short of God's standards."

Gingrich argued in the interview, however, that he should not be viewed as a hypocrite for pursuing Clinton's infidelity.

"The president of the United States got in trouble for committing a felony in front of a sitting federal judge," the former Georgia congressman said of Clinton's 1998 House impeachment on perjury and obstruction of justice charges. "I drew a line in my mind that said, 'Even though I run the risk of being deeply embarrassed, and even though at a purely personal level I am not rendering judgment on another human being, as a leader of the government trying to uphold the rule of law, I have no choice except to move forward and say that you cannot accept ... perjury in your highest officials."
