The Importance of Gratitude

We all have so much to be thankful for this holiday season. I'm reminded of one of my favorite movies Pride of the Yankees: The Lou Gehrig Story. I love that scene where he gives his Luckiest Man Alive speech. Despite receiving devastating news Lou is able to see through it all and give thanks for the many blessings he had received.

Full text version of the Farewell Speech
"Fans, for the past two weeks you have been reading about the bad break I got. Yet today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of this earth. I have been in ballparks for seventeen years and have never received anything but kindness and encouragement from you fans.

"Look at these grand men. Which of you wouldn't consider it the highlight of his career just to associate with them for even one day? Sure, I'm lucky. Who wouldn't consider it an honor to have known Jacob Ruppert? Also, the builder of baseball's greatest empire, Ed Barrow? To have spent six years with that wonderful little fellow, Miller Huggins? Then to have spent the next nine years with that outstanding leader, that smart student of psychology, the best manager in baseball today, Joe McCarthy? Sure, I'm lucky.

"When the New York Giants, a team you would give your right arm to beat, and vice versa, sends you a gift - that's something. When everybody down to the groundskeepers and those boys in white coats remember you with trophies - that's something. When you have a wonderful mother-in-law who takes sides with you in squabbles with her own daughter - that's something. When you have a father and a mother who work all their lives so you can have an education and build your body - it's a blessing. When you have a wife who has been a tower of strength and shown more courage than you dreamed existed - that's the finest I know.

"So I close in saying that I may have had a tough break, but I have an awful lot to live for."

I feel a bit like Lou Gehrig today. Sure I've had a minor setback losing my job at 540WFLA but I have so much to be grateful for this year. I'm blessed with a wonderful wife, 5 fantastic children, good health, great friends and loyal listeners like you. What more could a man ask for? I really am the luckiest man alive!

'Twas The Night Before Jesus Came'

About 10 years ago I attended a Christmas Play at a local church. I found this story laying in the pew. I've been sharing it on-air every year.

'Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.
The children were dressing to crawl into bed.
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter.
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!

The light of His face made me cover my head
It was Jesus! returning just like He had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
When He said "it's not here" my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without a sound.
While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There's only one life and when comes the last call
We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

General David Petraeus was robbed!

Time magazine blows it again! Time's Person of the year was a no-brainer. The greatest success story of 2007 was/is General David Petraeus a real American hero.
Time couldn't bring themselves to say something positive about the US let alone the Military. So they gave the honor to a despot, Vladimir Putin. The dictator of the former communist Russia, former KGB, a man who puts his political opponents in jail. This is the man they put up on a pedestal and choose to honor. If this doesn't show Time's true colors I don't know what does.

Where did PC go?

You may have heard by now my position in Orlando has been eliminated. I'm so happy and grateful for the opportunity I had with Clear Channel. I've been blessed to get a lot of exposure on Fox and MSNBC while here. This has helped to raise my profile. I'm looking forward to the next step. I didn't get to say goodbye. I want you to know how much I appreciated you listening to my show. Thanks so much!-PC

I'm really touched by your support and all the positive comments. This decision had nothing to do with Monday's program and it's content. I was called in after the show and told that my position had been eliminated and that they were taking the station in a different direction. Apparently this change has been in the works for several weeks. It's being driven by a format change at one of the other stations, 740 The Team, in the Clear Channel cluster. 740 will become a Hispanic format. As a result the sports jocks have been moved to 540WFLA.

As for my future I'm taking this week to assess my options. I love Orlando and would like to stay however that may not be possible.
Once I figure out what I'm going to do I'll let you know through this Blog. Please keep me and my family in your prayers during this time of uncertainty.

World Aids Day

They so called Aids Epidemic is one of the biggest scams ever perpetrated on the American Public.
Remember this kind of fearmongering?
Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala, told Congress in February 1993 that without massive intervention, "There may be no one left."

Get informed don't be one of the gullible sheep who believes we are all at equal risk. Spend some time on Mike Fumento's website and enlighten yourself.

Cracks are forming in the myth of worldwide Aids

For years, I and a handful of others have dared write that worldwide HIV and AIDS figures have been grossly exaggerated; that the official authorities have been lying. I first criticized the African doomsaying in my 1990 book, the Myth of Heterosexual AIDS - 17 years ago! For our troubles we critics were hung, drawn, and quartered.

Now, as I discuss in my new article in The American Spectator Online, "An Epidemic of Falsehoods," the UNAIDS program has admitted its HIV estimate from last year was over six million too high, dropping it from 39.5 million to 33.2 million. The agency also now admits the number of new HIV infections per year peaked way back around 1998.

Trust me; the "corrected" figure is still a gross exaggeration. And as I make clear, the inflated figures were no mere mistake in methodology, as the official and unofficial alarmist groups would have us think. It was a concession that our trusted officials (Trusted by the mainstream media, anyway) could no longer maintain such a massive fiction against the onslaught of reality. It's a sordid tale, but an interesting one. And it's far from over.

Now, when will they admit they've grossly exaggerated the risk of pandemic avian flu?

The sheer lunacy of having a day set aside to celebrate/observe a STD. What's next World Chlamydia Day, World Syphilis Day or Maybe World Herpes Day? I know I could have Robin Williams on the show to talk about his struggles with Herpes "The Gift That Keeps On Giving". Give me a break!
