Iraq to award oil contracts to foreign firms

BAGHDAD (AFP) — Iraq will award contracts to 41 foreign oil firms in a bid to boost production that could give multinationals a potentially lucrative foothold in huge but underdeveloped oil fields, an official said on Sunday.

"We chose 35 companies of international standard, according to their finances, environment and experience, and we granted them permission to extract oil," oil ministry spokesman Asim Jihad told AFP.

Six other state-owned oil firms from Algeria, Angola, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam will also be awarded extraction deals, Jihad said.

Bush honors retired Marine; homosexuals up in arms

President Bush is honoring a retired Marine General who came under attack from radical homosexual groups for calling that lifestyle immoral. Pro-homosexual groups, notes one veteran observer, are "going nuclear" about the award.

President Bush has honored General Peter Pace with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian award- and Elaine Donnelly of the Center for Military Readiness says the award is richly deserved.

In May 2007, Pace told the Chicago Tribune: "I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts, including adultery." That upset groups like the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network and Parents and Friends of Lesbians And Gays.

"The ensuing criticism caused him to forego another term as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but President George Bush has chosen to honor him with this special award," says Donnelly. "Now we have two homosexual activist groups going nuclear, using nasty epithets aimed at the general ...."

She says the reaction of the two groups demonstrates that they -- not General Pace -- are intolerant. "The reaction of these two groups, in my opinion, is disrespectful to millions of people who do not share their views," chides Donnelly. "These groups claim to advocate tolerance, but the attitude of the [LGBT individuals] ... take intolerance to an extreme."

Donnelly commends President Bush for not being afraid to honor a man who publicly stood for morality in the face of such criticism.

Man Accused Of Molesting A Child While In Prison

NewsOn6 is reporting...

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections responded Friday to allegations of molestation reports from the Joseph Harp Correctional Center. According to reports, a convicted sex offender serving a life sentence, was caught molesting his daughter during a prison visit by the child.

News On 6 reporter Dave Jordan reports Eugene Bond, the 43-year-old accused inmate, allegedly fondled his 8-year-old daughter. The prison guards were oblivious to the situation until another visitor spoke up.

"The wife of another inmate who was there visiting advised up that something inappropriate was going on," DOC spokesperson Jerry Massie said.

Bond's criminal record included at least three rape and lewd act convictions on his record.

Somebody dropped the ball. The Judge should have placed restrictions on visitation, the DA should have demanded it.

It's a sad, sad day for our country. A majority of the members of the United States Supreme Court have shown themselves unable to distinguish between an existential military struggle — quite literally, a war over the very existence of western civilization — and ordinary street crime committed by U.S. residents wholly within America. The obvious and inevitable consequence of today's Supreme Court decision will be that terrorist killers presently in captivity, captured at the cost of American soldiers' lives and limbs, will be released instead of punished, and they will return to killing both Americans and others again.

Make no mistake about it: This was a naked, arrogant power grab of wartime, war-fighting power by the liberal wing of the Supreme Court. This is Anthony Kennedy, John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter, and Stephen Breyer doing their dead-level best — not to protect you and me from the terrorists, but to protect the terrorists — and to prevent Congress and the president from protecting you and me!

Malik Obama confirms his half-brother Barack grew up a Muslim

Apparently the Obamas of Kenya have been reading those scurrilous emails to which Barack likes to refer, because they have no doubt -- contrary to the claims of the Obama campaign, that the presidential candidate was raised a Moslem. They take that as a given.

As the Jerusalem Post reports, "Barack Obama's half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background. In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya."

The Obama brothers' father, a senior economist for the Kenyan government who studied at Harvard University, died in car crash in 1982. He left six sons and a daughter. All of his children - except Malik -- live in Britain or the United States. Malik and Barack met in 1985.

In a remarkable denial issued last November that still stands on the official campaign website, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs issued a statement explaining that "Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised as a Muslim, and is a committed Christian."

Apparently Malik Obama, himself a Muslim, had not read the press release.

Melanie Phillips is the most recent commentator to draw attention to the massive body of evidence that leaves no doubt that Barak Hussein Obama was born a Muslim (Islam is patrilineal) and raised a Muslim (so registered in school, acknowledging attending Islamic classes, reported accompanying his step-father to the mosque, and able to recite the Koran in the original Arabic).

Reuven Koret, Aaron Klein and Daniel Pipes have previously pointed to the attempts by Obama and his campaign to conceal the candidate's Muslim background. The well documented evidence draws upon the on-the-ground interviews by researchers in Indonesia and Kenya, published quotations of Obama's childhood friends and his school records, as well as the candidate's own autobiography.

Hundreds salute soldier

STILLWATER — Hundreds of people holding American flags lined the streets of Stillwater for more than five miles Friday as the funeral procession of Army Reserve Maj. Scott Allen Hagerty passed by them.

Hagerty, 41, of Stillwater, was killed June 3 while serving in Zormat, Afghanistan, when a roadside bomb exploded near his military vehicle during a patrol, the Department of Defense said.

About 1,000 people attended his funeral Friday in the First United Methodist Church, where Hagerty was remembered as a peacemaker who touched countless lives.

"He was going to do what was right no matter what. He had a soldier's heart. It immediately cries out, 'If you're going to send someone, send me,' " Army Master Sgt. Charles Smith said.

Army Command Sgt. Maj. Steve Roberts said Hagerty "was a guy whose actions spoke louder than words.

"He was doing exactly what he wanted to do. He truly loved soldiers, trusted soldiers.

"Selfless sacrifice — that's Scott in a nutshell," Roberts said.

Maj. Hagerty leaves behind a wife Daphne and sons Jonathan (age 10) and Samuel (20 months).

Speaker focuses talk on diversity

Diversity and multiculturalism have always interested Tulsa poet and attorney Hannibal Johnson.

"There are few issues that are more important than learning about diversity," Johnson said Tuesday at the Tulsa Press Club during a speech on increasing diversity in the workforce and improving race relations in Oklahoma.

The Press Club, a collective of print and broadcast journalists that started more than 75 years ago, regularly invites guests to speak at the club's downtown location.

Ohio Guv Won't Run with Obama

ABC News' Teddy Davis and John Santucci Report: Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D) was Shermanesque on Tuesday in saying that he would "absolutely not" be Sen. Barack Obama's, D-Ill., running mate even if asked to join the Democratic ticket.

Asked on NPR's "All Things Considered" if he is auditioning to be Obama's running mate, Strickland said, "Absolutely not. If drafted I will not run, nominated I will not accept and if elected I will not serve.

So, I don’t know how more crystal clear I can be."

Strickland was seen by some political handicappers as an attractive vice presidential pick for Obama because he is a popular chief executive and former House member who hails from Ohio, the state which decided the 2004 election.

What's on the Michelle Obama Rant Tape?
Here's what's known so far:

The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women's Event.

Michelle Obama appeared as a panelist alongside Mrs. Khadijah Farrakhan and Mrs. James Meeks.

Bill Clinton spoke during the Conference, as did Bill Cosby and other speakers, but not at the panel Michelle attended.

Michelle Obama spoke at the Women's Event, but referenced Bill Clinton in her rant --- his presence at the conference was the impetus for her raving, it seems.

For about 30 minutes, Michelle Obama launched into a rant about the evils of America, and how America is to blame for the problems of Africa. Michelle personally blamed President Clinton for the deaths of millions of Africans and said America is responsible for the genocide of the Tutsis and other ethnic groups. She then launched into an attack on "whitey", and talked about solutions to black on black crime in the realm of diverting those actions onto white America. Her rant was fueled by the crowd: they reacted strongly to what she said, so she got more passionate and enraged, and that's when she completely loses it and says things that have made the mouths drop of everyone who's seen this.

The "tape" is a DVD that Trinity United sold on its website, and possibly offered free for download up until March 2008 when Trinity's site was scrubbed and the DVDs were no longer offered for sale.

This outburst happened just one month before the 2004 Democratic Convention, when Barack Obama delivered the keynote address.

UPDATED: It seems really easy for Chicago local media, especially, to determine whether or not this is the right tape of Michelle Obama. All they need to do is pull the tape from this 2004 Conference (particularly the panel Michelle was on), which should be readily available (since this was a very large multi-day event). All a journalist needs to do is watch this tape: if this is not the right one, they'd know immediately and this issue would be debunked. But, logically, this seems to be the most likely source of the tape people have been talking about at NoQuarterUSA.net

MSM acknowledges Michelle Obama "Whitey" Tape Rumor

Today the MSM acknowledged a story that's been circulating on the internet for the past couple of weeks, that a tape of Michelle Obama exists, where she's rumored to be going on a racist rant about "whitey" in front of the Trinity United Church of Christ's congregation. This is the church the Obamas were members of for over 20 years, up until yesterday, when Barack Obama announced they were leaving the church.
Geraldo Rivera doesn't believe the story is true, but I do, and so do many others. I'd like to bet him $10,000 the tape exists, and that it's not just some dirty trick the Republicans are using to smear Barack Obama.
I have a feeling it's going to be released before October. Imagine the drama if the tape were released tomorrow; the day before the last primaries and the day before Barack Obama is crowned the Democratic nominee. Wouldn't that be fantastic! (story via No Quarter)
