The Shamnesty Bill Defeated
Unlike every other talk show host in the country I'm not celebrating today, sitting around patting myself and my listeners on the back. This is a hollow victory! Yes we stopped the radical liberalization of our immigration policy. Here's the bad news the illegals get to stay! Nothing has changed, it's business as usual. The politicians have tricked us into sweeping the problem under the rug for yet another year and we think we've won. This is outrageous! In a post 9-11 climate we have as many as 20 million people here unaccounted for, we don't know who they are or where they are from. We have an open porous border to our south, no fence, no wall and we are celebrating what? We've been duped by Mel and the gang into believing we stopped them when in fact we gave the cover to continue business as usual. Shame on us!
John Edwards injects his son's fatal car accident into his campaign by demanding that everyone notice how he refuses to inject his son's fatal car accident into his campaign.
Edwards has talked about his son's death in a 1996 car accident on "Good Morning America," in dozens of profiles and in his new book. ("It was and is the most important fact of my life.") His 1998 Senate campaign ads featured film footage of Edwards at a learning lab he founded in honor of his son, titled "The Wade Edwards Learning Lab." He wears his son's Outward Bound pin on his suit lapel. He was going to wear it on his sleeve, until someone suggested that might be a little too "on the nose."
If you want points for not using your son's death politically, don't you have to take down all those "Ask me about my son's death in a horrific car accident" bumper stickers? Edwards is like a politician who keeps announcing that he will not use his opponent's criminal record for partisan political advantage. I absolutely refuse to mention the name of my dearly beloved and recently departed son killed horribly in a car accident, which affected me deeply, to score cheap political points.
I wouldn't want John Edwards to be president, but I think even Karl Rove would be willing to stipulate that the death of a son is a terrible thing.
SOME NATIONAL MEDIA OWE ANN COULTER AN APOLOGY
ALEXANDRIA, VA --- Some leading national media are misreporting conservative Ann Coulter’s remarks about liberal Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards, including the NBC Nightly News, CNN’s American Morning, The Washington Post’s ‘Reliable Source,’ and MSNBC’s on-the-hour announcer. This is cut-and-paste reporting and it is disingenuous. In reference to this shoddy journalism, MRC President Brent Bozell issued the following statement:
“When I first heard the sound-bite of Ann Coulter’s remarks calling for the assassination of John Edwards, I was appalled. Then I read the entire quote, and was doubly appalled—at the media themselves. I have never seen a person’s words so blatantly, and dishonestly distorted. When one reads, or listens to Ann’s entire statement, it is immediately apparent that she was wishing for no such thing.”
Here is the quote being run by some of the top media:
Ann Coulter: “If I’m gonna’ say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.” (ABC, Good Morning America, June 25.)
Here is the entire quote:
Ann Coulter: “But about the same time, you know, Bill Maher was not joking and saying he wished Dick Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack. So, I’ve learned my lesson. If I’m gonna’ say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.” (ABC, Good Morning America, June 25.)
“Ann Coulter was making the point that (a) a leftist like Bill Maher made the serious statement that it might be a positive thing to have Vice President Dick Cheney killed by terrorists,” Brent Bozell continued, and, “(b) it received no condemnation from the national press; and therefore (c) she would escape negative media scrutiny in the future were she to take that line against John Edwards.
“It is an inescapable truth that Ann Coulter was dripping with sarcasm when she made her remark. It is also an inescapable truth that every TV, radio, and print outlet that has run the shortened version of her remarks is distorting her words—deliberately. Some have run the full-quote, such as the morning shows on CBS, ABC and NBC. Good for them.
“But Ann Coulter is owed an apology from those outlets, including NBC’s Nightly News, The Washington Post and CNN’s American Morning, which have mis-reported her comments. And conservatives, take note: Today it’s Coulter, tomorrow it may be you. The left has demonstrated that it will stop at nothing, including flat-out dishonesty, to undermine our leaders.”
A video clip that teaches employers how not to hire Americans has prompted two lawmakers to ask Labor Secretary Elaine Chao to investigate whether U.S. companies may be abusing the H-1B visa program.
Here's the clip...
Too many people have been brain washed with the deliberately misleading garbage that immigrants, illegal, and legal, take only menial jobs that Americans don't want to do. And this video is proof positive that there are unscrupulous and sleazy lawyers who are willing to deprive Americans of jobs for the almighty dollar! Greed rules these law firms.
ORLANDO — A 17-year-old boy was sentenced to 60 years in prison for fatally stabbing a classmate at a high school bus stop.
Circuit Judge Marc Lubet sentenced Kelvin De La Cruz on Friday. A jury convicted the teenager of second-degree murder in April for stabbing 15-year-old Michael Nieves.
De La Cruz was spared a mandatory life sentence when the jury passed on a first-degree murder conviction.
“By my calculations, you’ll be close to 70 when you get out of prison, and perhaps then you won’t be a danger to society anymore,” Lubet told De La Cruz in the courtroom.
Authorities said the argument began at lunch over a girl and continued at a bus stop on the University High School campus last October.
De La Cruz maintains that he stabbed Nieves in self defense. His lawyers have a hearing scheduled Friday for a motion for a new trial.
De La Cruz’s mother and older sister, present in the courtroom, sobbed as the sentence was read.
“You think 60 years is better than life in prison, but no,” his older sister, Claribel Ramirez, said afterward. “For us and my family, in a way my brother is dead too. We can only see him on a TV and talk to him on the telephone.”
Nieves’ family and friends hugged each other after the sentencing.
“Justice was served,” said Carmen Salicrup, the slain boy’s mother.
Circuit Judge Marc Lubet is to be commended it's time we send a clear message to criminals like Kelvin De La Cruz. We will not tolerate your behavior!
From JYB Now I've seen it all. I've heard of Crips; I've heard of Bloods; I've heard of Latin Kings and MS-13. And I've heard of vicious gang fights with stilettos. But not this kind:
Metro transit police have arrested six teenagers in connection with the stabbing and assault of another teen during a gang-related fight last month near the Addison Road station in Prince George's County.
The victim, a 15-year-old boy, was waiting at the bus shelter area on the night of May 19 after an earlier fight with members of a rival gang, officials said. He told investigators that he was attacked by six members of the rival gang, including a woman who allegedly stabbed him four times and another person who hit him in the head with a stiletto heel.
What kind of gang stabs people in the head with a stiletto heel?
Metro officials said the fight was between two gay and lesbian gangs that operate in Maryland.
Oh, of course! Gangs from Maryland! That explains everything.
Here's something you won't see on the front page of the NY Times or The Orlando Sentinel for that matter.
260 reports of abuse yearly in Protestant churches SEX SCANDALS Long-sought number surfaces
BY ROSE FRENCH NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The three companies that insure the majority of Protestant churches in America say they typically receive upward of 260 reports each year of young people under 18 being sexually abused by clergy, church staff, volunteers or congregation members. The figures offer a glimpse into what has long been an extremely difficult phenomenon to pin down -- the frequency of sex abuse in Protestant congregations.
Religious groups and victims' supporters have been interested in the figure ever since the Roman Catholic sex abuse crisis hit five years ago. The church has revealed that there have been 13,000 credible accusations against Catholic clerics since 1950 -- 228 a year.
Protestant numbers have been harder to come by because the denominations are less centralized than the Catholic church. Some of the only numbers come from three insurance companies -- Church Mutual Insurance Co., GuideOne Insurance Co. and Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Co. Together, they represent a large chunk of all U.S. Protestant churches.
Abuse reports don't always mean the accused was guilty.
Even with hundreds of cases a year ''that's a very small number. That probably doesn't even constitute half,'' said Gary Schoener of the Walk-In Counseling Center in Minneapolis. ''Sex abuse in any domain, including the church, is reported seldom.''
Insurance officials said churches are working harder to prevent child sex abuse by conducting background checks, installing windows in play areas and requiring at least two adults in a room.
Patrick Moreland of Church Mutual said churches are particularly susceptible to abusers.
''By their nature, congregations are the most trusting of organizations, so that makes them attractive targets for predators,'' he said.
Gosh, I thought the Catholic Church was the only one with perverts? Well at least that's what the MSM would have you believe.
“Angilo Freeland was a paid assassin. We have information that leads us to believe he has killed up to fifteen people in and around the drug world,” said Sheriff Grady Judd of Polk County. Judd says it appears that Freeland killed most of them in Central and South America. Read the rest of his rap sheet HERE.
She's 20 and has 7 kids + she's not married and doesn't work
She's 20 years old and giving birth to twins. Again. For the third time. She and the babies' father are unemployed and on welfare. She just can't help herself. Is this a case where sterilization or forced birth control might be justifiable? Because she's not going to stop and the kids are doomed to a life of poverty. H/T to Perry Simon @ allaccess.com
According to the CDC, every 1,000 unmarried Hispanic women bore 92 children in 2003 compared with 28 children for every 1,000 unmarried white women, 22 for every 1,000 unmarried Asian women, and 66 for every 1,000 unmarried black women. Forty-five percent of all Hispanic births occur outside of marriage, compared with 24% of white births and 15% of Asian births. Only the percentage of black out-of-wedlock births — 68% — exceeds the Hispanic rate.
Dr. James W. Holsinger Jr., President Bush's nominee for surgeon general, has come under fire from gay rights groups. His crime? Telling the truth!
From ABC... President Bush's nominee for surgeon general, Dr. James W. Holsinger Jr., wrote a paper in 1991 that purported to make the medical argument that homosexuality is unnatural and unhealthy. Doctors who reviewed the paper derided it as prioritizing political ideology over science, and Democratic aides on Capitol Hill say the paper will make his confirmation hearings problematic, if not downright bruising.
Gosh! Did I miss something? Was there a new scientific or medical study that declared homosexuality as natural or healthy? When I hear crap like this from the homosexuals I'm reminded of 3 great quotes.
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act. -George Orwell
To announce truths is an infallible receipt for being persecuted. -Voltaire
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts.-Daniel Patrick Moynihan
The NY Post reports... June 6, 2007 -- A Harlem man has filed suit against the makers of the nutritional drink Boost, charging that the protein shake gave him the wrong kind of lift. Christopher Woods said that drinking cans of Boost Plus Nutritional Energy Drink left him with an erection that wouldn't go away.
According to papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Woods was "caused to suffer and sustain severe bodily injuries" from "the erection that would not subside."
"It gave me a lot of energy - too much energy," Woods, 29, told The Post yesterday.
"It was unbearable and embarrassing."
He said he had to undergo two medical procedures for relief from the days-long erection, and as a result, he's now partially impotent.
"It's affecting my life because I'm not getting the pleasure I used to," Woods said.
The suit, which seeks unspecified monetary damages for Woods' "pain, shock and mental anguish," names the drink's former manufacturer, Mead Johnson, and its current one, Novartis.
Mead Johnson said it no longer has anything to do with the drink, and reps for Novartis did not return calls for comment.
The Woods vs. Johnson case dates to June 2004, which is when he said his mother bought him a case of the protein drink in hopes he would bulk up.
"It was supposed to be a health supplement," he said.
The suit says he used the "product in accordance with its intended use" - and soon had a very visible side effect.
He said the erection lasted for over three days, and his girlfriend "was in disbelief. She couldn't understand what was happening."
"It was awful. It was painful. I would always wear jeans, but it was hard to go out, so I had to buy some sweatpants," Woods said.
He said his 7-year-old son asked him what was going on and "I didn't know what to tell him."
He saw a doctor and underwent a "winter shunt" - a painful procedure where a needle is used to drain blood. The suit says he experienced "persistent problems requiring a follow-up hospital visit" a week later.
Woods said he was given two choices - undergo either an embolization, where blood is blocked from going to the arteries, or an amputation. He chose the former, but it has made it difficult for him to get a full erection and left him in "a state of discomfort."
Woods said the experience has affected his love life because it's made him very self-conscious.
Local6 reports... A suspected burglar in Miami was found dangling from a large ventilation fan after he apparently stepped on the on switch while his body was inside the machine and killed himself, according to police.
Miami investigators said a "known burglar" in the area was found dead in the powerful fan at the Maranatha Used Clothing store Thursday when the store opened up for business.
A witness said an employee of the store noticed feet dangling from the fan and called police.
Officers said they believe he was trying to scramble through the fan when his foot clicked a switch to the on position.
"If you are going to die for your profession, make it worthwhile," an officer told WSVN on the scene. "He was a known burglar."
This is the speech he gave earlier this week that I spoke about on Today's show.
President Bush Discusses Comprehensive Immigration Reform in Glynco, Georgia "This reform is complex. There's a lot of emotions around this issue. Convictions run deep. Those determined to find fault with this bill will always be able to look at a narrow slice of it and find something they don't like. If you want to kill the bill, if you don't want to do what's right for America, you can pick one little aspect out of it, you can use it to frighten people. Or you can show leadership and solve this problem once and for all, so the people who wear the uniform in this crowd can do the job we expect them to do. Now is the time for comprehensive immigration reform. Now is the time for members of both political parties to stand up and show courage, and take a leadership role and do what's right for America."
-President George W. Bush May 29, 2007
If you get a chance listen to the audio on the White House site HERE.
Peggy Noonan has an excellent column in Today's WSJ in which she discusses Bush turning on his supporters.
Too Bad President Bush has torn the conservative coalition asunder The president has taken to suggesting that opponents of his immigration bill are unpatriotic--they "don't want to do what's right for America." His ally Sen. Lindsey Graham has said, "We're gonna tell the bigots to shut up." On Fox last weekend he vowed to "push back." Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff suggested opponents would prefer illegal immigrants be killed; Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez said those who oppose the bill want "mass deportation." Former Bush speechwriter Michael Gerson said those who oppose the bill are "anti-immigrant" and suggested they suffer from "rage" and "national chauvinism."
