Magic Fan Wants Apology Over 'Monkey' Heckling Incident

Local6 is reporting...

An Orlando Magic basketball fan ejected from a recent game after saying a Houston Rockets star looked like a "big monkey" has hired an attorney and is demanding an apology from the player and the NBA, according to Local 6 News.

During the recent Houston Rocket basketball game at the TD Waterhouse Centre, fan Hooman Hamzehloui yelled what some consider a racial slur to Houston player Dikembe Mutombo, Local 6 sports director Todd Lewis said.

Hamzehloui is a longtime Magic basketball fan who constantly heckles opposing teams during games.

"And I said, 'Dikembe, you look like a big monkey,'" Hamzehloui told Lewis.

Mutombo heard the comment and had to be restrained on the court.

After the comment, Hamzehloui was ejected from the game and forced to leave the arena.

Hamzehloui told Local 6 News that what he said to Mutombo was not racist.

"I am not racist at all," Hamzehloui said. "I am a minority myself and I have a lot different races of friends. In fact, sometimes we call ourselves the United Nations."

Mutombo released a statement about the incident: "He was insulting my races, my family, my integrity. I hope they don't allow him to come back. If I get fined, I will go straight into the stands next time and (mess) somebody up."

"I'm pretty offended that he is calling me racist when he does not know who I am and based on one comment," Hamzehloui said.

Kerry Comment Sparks Outrage!

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” Watch Video HERE.

John Kerry calls White House Press Secretary Tony Snow and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) “right-wing nut-jobs” for demanding an apology for comments in which Kerry suggested that anyone who serves in the U.S. military is uneducated, reports CNSNews.com Staff Writer Nathan Burchfiel.

This is what appeasement and tolerance get you.

For the last several years, Canadian courts have bent over backwards to accomodate Muslim interests. The government also, in some cases, kinda turned a blind eye to some groups, including one bogus "medical school," that were circumventing immigration laws to get Muslims into the country. And the result? al Qaeda is now threatening to attack Canada because it has troops in Afghanistan and, more significantly, Canada is very Christian. That's unacceptable to them. And that's the bottom line in the terrorism battle: if you don't capitulate to radical Islam, you're going to be a target.

Media Elites Snub Clinton’s 60th Birthday Party
Posted by Noel Sheppard on October 29, 2006 - 11:26.

This one is way too funny. Britain’s the Daily Mail reported on Saturday that the Clintons are having a hard time selling tickets to Bill’s upcoming 60th birthday party, so much so that they have now twice reduced the price. In fact, compared to what they were originally charging, in particular to Hollywood elites, prices have been drastically slashed, and are now being offered to the public (hat tip to Drudge):

When America's liberal elite were offered the chance to pay up to $500,000 each (about £260,000) to attend Bill Clinton's 60th birthday extravaganza tonight - with the added promise of a private Rolling Stones concert - a packed house was expected.

Wife Hillary and daughter Chelsea sent out about 10,000 invitations to Hollywood tycoons, movie stars, captains of industry and Wall Street - with all proceeds to go to the former President's charitable foundation.

Sadly for the Clintons, there weren’t a lot of takers: MORE

Tipping Point for War's Supporters?

From Today's Washington Post...

In Past Month, Even Stalwarts Have Called for Change in Iraq Policy

October 2006 may be remembered as the month that the U.S. experience in Iraq hit a tipping point, when the violence flared and shook both the military command in Iraq and the political establishment back in Washington.

If October does prove to be a turning point for the Iraq war, historians are likely to point to two events, one in domestic U.S. politics and the other in Iraq.

The first was Warner's visit to Baghdad. As the chairman of Armed Services, a stalwart Bush supporter and a pillar of the Republican establishment, he rattled much of Washington with his dour assessment Oct. 5. If events have not improved in 60 to 90 days, he said, the Bush administration should find a new course. While still opposed to a precipitous troop withdrawal, Warner made clear that staying the course is no longer a viable option.

In Iraq, meanwhile, the key moment was the realization by top commanders in mid-October that sending 12,000 U.S. troops back into Baghdad did not have the calming effect that had been hoped for. As Shiite-Sunni tensions erupted in the city, civilian casualties doubled in a matter of months, with 2,660 deaths in September alone.

"Operation Together Forward has made a difference in the focus areas, but has not met our overall expectations of sustaining a reduction in the levels of violence," Army Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell IV said Oct. 19, using the U.S. military name for the Baghdad operation. In other words, the U.S. military had played its ace in the hole -- it had asserted itself in Iraq's most important city -- yet had not been able to improve deteriorating security in the capital.

O'Reilly on Letterman Round 2

Newsbusters is reporting...

O'Reilly's Round Two with Letterman Centers on Letterman's Disgust with Iraq War

FNC's Bill O'Reilly returned to the Late Show Friday night for round two with David Letterman over Iraq. In the show taped on Monday but not aired until Friday, Letterman expressed disgust with the war: "So we've made a mistake in war, so we stay there and kill as many Americans as we possibly can? That's the way you get out of a mistake?" At another point, Letterman fretted: “It's all about oil. That's why we're there. Big deal." When O'Reilly asserted that “it isn't 'We're a bad country, Bush is an evil liar.' That's not true," Letterman retorted that "I didn't say we were a bad country. I didn't say he was an evil liar" and charged: "You're putting words in my mouth just the way you put artificial facts in your head."

Unlike the January 3 confrontation, however, each time it seemed to get too personal, O'Reilly would always -- and Letterman sometimes too -- interject a humorous rejoinder to try to keep the interview from becoming too hard-edged. “We're really friends. This is all an act. We're buddies. We bowl," O'Reilly proposed in an effort to cut the tension. For a look at the January session, check my NewsBusters post of the time (with video), “Letterman Denounces Iraq War, Sheehan Critics.” My Friday night posting, “O'Reilly Returns to Late Show Friday Night, Letterman Calls Him a 'Liar,'” recounted comments Letterman made on his Thursday night show. Salon Interview: Camille Paglia

This is worth reading. Yes she's from the left but her honesty is refreshing.

Salon Interview: Camille Paglia Our fave pop intellectual weighs in on the Dems' gift to Ann Coulter (Foley), why Condi's success matters to feminists, and Bob Woodward (yawn).

Worth noting...

But I've become concerned about Bush's mental state in the past few months. Sometimes in his press conferences or prepared statements (which I listened to on the radio), I heard a sort of Nixonian tension and hysteria. His vocal patterns were over-intense and his inflections impatient, lurching and sarcastic. There was this seething quality to his speech that worried me and that seemed to signal that something major is being planned -- perhaps another military incursion.

I think she's on to something here. This may be one of the reasons The Right resents Bill Clinton.

Whenever Clinton speaks, it throws into dramatic relief the inarticulateness of our current president, who sometimes can barely get through a sentence. After a career teaching in art schools, I've seen many examples of highly intelligent performers and artists who weren't naturally verbal, so I always gave Bush the benefit of the doubt. But now I feel that he really doesn't perceive subtleties and that his thinking is schematic and reductive. Clinton's range of reference and his ability to think out loud and to mesh the large idea with the small detail is remarkable.

Muslim Cleric Calls Women 'Uncovered Meat'

Covered Meat
SYDNEY, Australia -A senior Muslim cleric compared women who go without a head scarf to "uncovered meat" left out for scavengers, drawing widespread condemnation and calls Thursday for his resignation.

Sheik Taj Aldin al Hilali denied he was condoning rape when he made the comments in a sermon last month, and apologized to any women he had offended, saying they were free to dress as they wished.

Hilali was quoted in The Australian newspaper Thursday as saying in the sermon: "If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside ... without cover, and the cats come to eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats' or the uncovered meat's?"

"The uncovered meat is the problem. If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred," he was quoted as saying, referring to the headdress worn by some Muslim women.

New Jersey Supreme Court Orders Legislature To Give Marriage Rights to Same-Sex Couples

Matt Staver from the Liberty Counsel stopped by this morning to discuss the implications.

Newark, NJ – Today, New Jersey’s Supreme Court issued a decision ordering the Legislature to give all the rights of marriage to same-sex couples. The Court stopped one vote shy of granting same-sex couples the right to marry, instead ruling that all the benefits of marriage must be granted to same-sex couples. Three of the Justices dissented, arguing that same-sex couples should be given the right to marry in New Jersey. Liberty Counsel has been actively, aggressively and directly involved in protecting traditional marriage from attack in dozens of lawsuits around the country.

Today’s ruling recognized the backdrop of the New Jersey statutes which the majority stated evidenced a “legislative and judicial commitment to eradicating sexual orientation discrimination.” The Court held that, “denying rights and benefits to committed same-sex couples that are statutorily given to their heterosexual counterparts violates the equal protection guarantee of [New Jersey’s Constitution]. To comply with this constitutional mandate, the Legislature must either amend the marriage statutes to include same-sex couples or create a parallel statutory structure, which will provide for, on equal terms, the rights and benefits enjoyed and burdens and obligations borne by married couples.” The Court ordered the State Legislature to amend its statutes and stated, “The Legislature could simply amend the marriage statutes to include same-sex couples, or it could create a separate statutory structure, such as a civil union, as Connecticut and Vermont have done.” The Court then ordered the State Legislature to act within 180 days.

Erik Stanley, Chief Counsel for Liberty Counsel, stated: “New Jersey is not a social experimentation laboratory where the Supreme Court can play. The marital union of a man and a woman is of vital social importance because it uniquely fosters responsible procreation, contributes to the continuing well-being of men and women, to society, to children and to the state. Aggressive use of the courts to undermine marriage has backfired on the same-sex marriage movement. The people of America are not about to idly stand by and watch marriage go up in smoke. Marriage, including all of its rights and benefits, must be protected from judges who dress themselves in lab coats to play social scientists and experiment with the most fundamental institution of society. We must not rest until marriage is protected once and for all by passage of a federal marriage amendment.”

Sheehan's Legal Threat Led CNN to Censor Me, Author Says

A TV Comedy Turns an Unconventional Weapon on Iraq’s High and Mighty: Fake News

BAGHDAD, Oct. 23 — Nearly every night here for the past month, Iraqis weary of the tumult around them have been turning on the television to watch a wacky-looking man with a giant Afro wig and star-shaped glasses deliver the grim news of the day.

In a recent episode, the host, Saad Khalifa, reported that Iraq’s Ministry of Water and Sewage had decided to change its name to simply the Ministry of Sewage — because it had given up on the water part.

In another episode, he jubilantly declared that “Rums bin Feld” had announced American troops were leaving the country on 1/1, in other words, on Jan. 1. His face crumpled when he realized he had made a mistake. The troops were not actually departing on any specific date, he clarified, but instead leaving one by one. At that rate, it would take more than 600 years for them to be gone.

The newscast is a parody, of course, that fires barbs at everyone from the American military to the Iraqi government, an Iraqi version of “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.” Even the militias wreaking havoc on Iraq are lampooned.

School newspaper censored

The offending content: already-posted test data.

TAMPA - There are few issues in American education as widely discussed as the achievement gap, the racial divide that separates the academic performance of white and minority students.

But not at Hillsborough High School, where the principal pulled an article detailing the school's achievement gap from the student newspaper.

Principal William Orr called the content inappropriate, even though it focused on data the federal government publicizes under the No Child Left Behind Act.

Instead of a story and chart, students found a gaping hole Monday in the Red & Black, the school newspaper.

"If it's something that has a potential to hurt students' self-esteem, then I have an obligation not to let that happen," he said. "I don't think it's the job of the school newspaper to embarrass the students."

Michael J. Fox Ad for Democratic Senate Candidate in Missouri Sparks Controversy

A TV ad in support of Missouri Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill in which actor Michael J. Fox is shown visibly wracked by tremors from his Parkinson's disease is causing talk and some controversy. In the ad, Fox, who's battled Parkinson's for more than a decade, promotes McCaskill's support for embryonic stem cell research, which some researchers believe holds promise for the treatment of many diseases, including Parkinson's.

In the ad, Fox also talks about the opposition of McCaskill's opponent, incumbent Republican Senator Jim Talent, to embryonic stem cell research. Fox charges, "Senator Talent even wanted to criminalize the science that gives us a chance for hope." Talent believes the research is unethical because it destroys days-old human embryos.

On Monday (October 23rd), conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh was among those critical of the ad, which debuted prominently during Game 1 of the World Series on Saturday and will continue airing statewide this week. Limbaugh claimed that Fox was, quote, "either off his medication or acting," unquote, to make his tremors appear worse, and called the ad "exploitative." A McCaskill spokesperson said Fox looked the same as he did at a fundraiser for them last month, and said, "It's unfortunate that anyone would attack someone who's trying to speak out for lifesaving cures."

Top U.S. Officials Say Iraq Has Agreed to Timetable of Measures to Curb Violence

America's top officials in Iraq said yesterday (October 24th) that the Iraqi government has agreed to a timetable of measures over the next year to curb the violence in that country and allow U.S. troops to come home. U.S. ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and General George Casey, who commands the 140,000 American troops in Iraq, spoke in a rare joint news conference from Iraq just two weeks before the U.S. midterm elections.

Khalilzad said he expected Iraq leaders to make, quote, "significant progress in the coming 12 months" in meeting the benchmarks, and Casey forecast that Iraqis would be able to handle most tasks in 12 to 18 months, with some U.S. support. Casey said he planned tactical changes -- which he didn't specify -- to curb the sectarian violence, and also said he'd ask for additional U.S. troops if necessary, but stressed that this was only one option. No deadline was mentioned, nor did either Khalilzad or Casey say what the U.S. response would be the Iraqi government failed to meet the benchmarks and rein in the violence.

Casey and Khalilzad also charged that the enemies in Iraq included Iran and the Syrian leadership, condemning what they described as, quote, "decidedly unhelpful" and "cynical" policies being pursued by the two countries, which neighbor Iraq.

After telling us for months that a timetable was/is a bad idea and that they wouldn't establish one, they do! There appears to be no consequences for not meeting the deadline.

How much confidence do you have that the Iraqi government will be able to meet the
benchmarks in the timetable they have agreed to?

Do you believe Iraqis will be able to handle most tasks in 12 to 18 months, as Casey said?

CNN airs Terrorist "Snuff" Film

GOP Congressman Wants CNN's Embedded Reporters Pulled Over Insurgent Sniper Video

The Republican chairman of the House Armed Services Committee is calling on the Pentagon to remove CNN reporters who are embedded with American combat troops after the news network aired a video showing insurgent snipers targeting U.S. soldiers, AP reports. Rep. Duncan Hunter of California said in a letter to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Friday (October 20th), "CNN has now served as the publicist for an enemy propaganda film featuring the killing of an American soldier." The letter was also signed by fellow GOP members of the House from California Darrell Issa and Brian Bilbray. Bilbray called the footage, quote, "nothing short of a terrorist snuff film."

In the video aired last week on Anderson Cooper 360, a U.S. solider is shown milling in a public place with Iraqis before a shot rings out. CNN then fades the screen to black but describes what happens -- the victim falling forward. CNN spokesperson Laurie Goldberg defended airing the footage, saying, "Our responsibility is to report the news. As an organization, we stand by our decision and respect the rights of others to disagree with it." In a blog entry last Thursday (October 19th) -- before Hunter sent the letter to the Pentagon -- CNN producer David Doss said the video was aired in an effort to present the, quote, "unvarnished truth" about the Iraq war.

PBS Frontline:The Lost Year In Iraq

In the first weeks after the statue of Saddam Hussein fell, a group of young American bureaucrats led by Ambassador L. Paul Bremer III set off to establish democracy in Iraq. "We had an ambitious goal," Bremer tells FRONTLINE, "to try to bring better government to Iraq and help them rebuild their economy [and] their country." One year later, as Bremer made a secret exit to evade insurgent attacks, the group left behind a thriving insurgency, economic collapse and much of its idealism. "Our grand initiative there [was] to bring democracy to Iraq," says Rajiv Chandrasekaran, former Baghdad bureau chief for The Washington Post. Instead, says Chandrasekaran, "we were leaving with our tail between our legs." (more »)

War on the Middle Class: How the Government, Big Business, and Special Interest Groups Are Waging War onthe American Dream and How to Fight Back

From Publishers WeeklyStarred Review.
Though a self-confessed "lifelong Republican and a strong believer in free enterprise," Dobbs's opinions have evolved away from mainline GOP and corporate dogma. Charging that the Clinton and Bush administrations have waged "class warfare" on the American middle class, he criticizes their free trade policies, which have eliminated manufacturing jobs in the U.S., either outright or by outsourcing them. He's scornful of a GOP that panders to its fundamentalist religious base with bills that focus on abortion, gay marriage and the Pledge of Allegiance while the huge federal deficits ("an estate tax on the middle class and their children") spiral out of control. He rails against the K Street lobbyists, like Jack Abramoff, and their friends in Congress; chastises the credit card and banking industries for engineering the new bankruptcy law to their own profits; and criticizes the press for its sloppy "he says, she says" journalism. But Dobbs risks slipping from populist to demagogue in his jeremiad against the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in this country and his support for the vigilante Minuteman Project. Agree with him or not, Dobbs remains a refreshingly bold thinker who refuses to be intellectually pigeonholed.

BARRON'S COVER Survivor!
The GOP Victory

By JIM MCTAGUE

JUBILANT DEMOCRATS SHOULD RECONSIDER their order for confetti and noisemakers. The Democrats, as widely reported, are expecting GOP-weary voters to flock to the polls in two weeks and hand them control of the House for the first time in 12 years -- and perhaps the Senate, as well. Even some Republicans privately confess that they are anticipating the election-day equivalent of Little Big Horn. Pardon our hubris, but we just don't see it.

Our analysis -- based on a race-by-race examination of campaign-finance data -- suggests that the GOP will hang on to both chambers, at least nominally. We expect the Republican majority in the House to fall by eight seats, to 224 of the chamber's 435. At the very worst, our analysis suggests, the party's loss could be as large as 14 seats, leaving a one-seat majority. But that is still a far cry from the 20-seat loss some are predicting. In the Senate, with 100 seats, we see the GOP winding up with 52, down three.

I made my weekly appearance on MSNBC's Tucker Friday

I'll have audio for you Monday morning. Here's what we talked about...

D BLOCK TOPIC #1 - PLAYING THE TERROR CARD? GOP ad puts focus on terror - E-mailed pitch aims to energize party activists

D BLOCK TOPIC #2 - CLINTON BACK IN THE GAME? VP Bill? Depends on Meaning of 'Elected'

D BLOCK TOPIC #3 - COLLEGES BLAME AMERICA? The Institute for Jewish and Community Research released a report yesterday based on a survey of American faculty. There have been similar reports released in the past, but this is the most comprehensive of its kind, and also the first to specifically target the issue of groupthink on American campuses. The survey not only shows the pervasiveness of groupthink, but also highlights the ideas that are popular on American campuses:

-Almost one third of faculty cited America as one of the world's most dangerous nations.
-More than half of faculty said they blame American polices for the growth of Islamic militancy.
-Almost half of faculty said that many of the problems that now exist in Middle Eastern countries can be traced to misguided American policies.

IJCR also offers some policy recommendations to address this issue - namely a more active role by all university stakeholders, including federal and state governments.

Slaying tightens school's security

Thug of the week

Grief counselors and Orange County deputies were expected to turn out in force this morning at the school in northeast Orange to reassure students and parents.

To reassure them of what?

Their school is safe? That would be a lie.

Everything is ok? It obviously isn't, one student is dead another hopefully will spend his life in jail or better yet be executed.

They don't have a gang problem? Many students stayed home Friday fearing retaliation.

How do we prevent this from happening again?

Sheriff Beary wants to go after pocket knives.

The stabbing of Michael Nieves during a fight over a girl prompted school administrators and Sheriff Kevin Beary to criticize state legislators for failing to classify "common" pocketknives as concealed weapons.

Orange County Schools Superintendent Ron Blocker has already ruled out the one thing that could make a difference, metal detectors.

Couric Leads with Six Minutes on Foley, Starting With Memories of Naked Back Rubs

Back on October 6, Katie Couric promised that the Mark Foley scandal “is not going away.” And just under two weeks later, on Thursday night, she did her part to keep it alive by leading the CBS Evening News with six minutes on it, starting with salacious descriptions of the teenage Mark Foley's alleged sexual activity with a Catholic priest. Couric offered a warning to viewers as she hyped the supposed importance of the priest's recollections: “A stunning development tonight in the congressional page scandal, and you may not want your young children to hear the story we're about to tell. The priest Mark Foley accused of molesting him as a child has come forward. Now retired, the priest admits that he and Foley, then barely a teenager, were naked together in a sauna, but he says, quote, 'Everybody does that.'”

Via phone, Couric talked earlier in the day to the priest in Malta. Citing a Sarasota Herald-Tribune article, Couric inquired: "According to this newspaper account, it also says that you massaged him when he was naked, and you were naked in the same room on overnight trips." Father Anthony Mercieca replied: "He'll stay with his towel on and go on the bench and I will massage his neck and his back." Couric remarked that “this was probably the weirdest interview I've ever done” -- raising the unanswered question of why she considered the 72-year-old's memories of back massages the lead story of the day -- before moving on to Gloria Borger for a full story on testimony before the ethics committee.

Cops say dad used toddler in porn video

An Orange County man was arrested on child-pornography charges after federal agents uncovered videos of him and his 15-month-old daughter, authorities said.

The man, whose name is being withheld by the Orlando Sentinel to protect the girl's identity, was ordered held without bail Monday at his initial appearance in Orlando federal court.

An undercover Internet sting led to the arrest. The man chatted online with a Tennessee-based FBI agent posing as a 13-year-old girl last month, court records show.

Agents with the Innocent Images Task Force in Central Florida interviewed and arrested the man Sunday. The task force includes a Seminole County sheriff's detective and a Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent.

The man "admitted to producing three videos of himself and his daughter engaged in sexual activity," FBI agent Keith Scott wrote in a charging affidavit. The suspect also "admitted to transmitting these videos to multiple individuals over the Internet."

I can't decide what's more offensive, that a parent would do something this evil to his own child or the sickos that watch it. Stories like this make me yearn for some Old Testament Justice.

BILL CLINTON'S GAME SHOW DEBUT !

Send this to Mel Martinez

Constituent's Letter To Senator Paul Sarbanes (D. Maryland)

The Honorable Paul S. Sarbanes
309 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington DC, 20510

Dear Senator Sarbanes:

As a native Marylander and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Immigration and Naturalization Service in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My reasons for wishing to change my status from U.S. citizen to illegal alien stem from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, what I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years.

I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year, so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of the last five years taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively?

This would yield an excellent return for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005 and I estimated a gross savings approximating $72,000. After the fine this would yield me a net savings of $70,000.

In addition, I would reap the other benefits of being an illegal alien such as free health care, avoidance of paying Social Security taxes, buying automobile insurance, serving on jury panels, etc. If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative.

Thank you for your assistance.

Internet, talk radio blamed for 'anti-Muslim violence'

A leading U.S. Islamic lobby group blames a purported rise in anti-Muslim harassment, violence and discriminatory treatment on the Internet and talk radio.

In its annual report, the Council on American-Islamic Relations claims anti-Muslim incidents leaped 30 percent in 2005 from the previous year.

National spokesman Ibrahim Hooper told reporters the difference is due to "a rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric fed by the Internet and also on talk radio."

"You can't turn on the radio without hearing negative, bigoted comments about Islam," Hooper said.

Nice try Mr Hooper but I'm not buying. This is nothing more than a diversionary tactic designed to deflect legitimate criticism of Muslims. Mr Hooper would be better served examining that giant plank in his eye. That Plank made up of extremist elements that have hijacked Islam. Those zealots are shaping public opinion.

Terrorist Sheik's Lawyer Gets 28-Month Sentence, Far Less Than 30 Years Prosecutors Wanted

Attorney Lynne Stewart, who's defended many radical and unpopular clients in her career, was sentenced yesterday (October 16th) to two-and-a-half years behind bars for helping a jailed terrorist sheik communicate with his followers. Prosecutors had sought a 30-year sentence for Stewart, but U.S. District Judge John G. Koeltl departed from the federal guidelines that called for that long term, citing the 67-year-old attorney's more than 30 years of representing poor, disadvantaged and unpopular clients. Koeltl said, "Ms. Stewart performed a public service, not only to her clients, but to the nation." At the same time, Koeltl didn't downplay the crimes, calling them quote, "extraordinarily severe criminal conduct." The judge said Stewart could remain free while she appeals.

A happy Stewart spoke to her supporters and journalists outside the court, saying, "You get time off for good behavior usually at the end of your prison term. I got it at the beginning." Over the decades, Stewart, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, has defended Black Panthers, anti-war radicals, a former mob hit man, and a man accused of trying to kill nine police officers, among other controversial clients.

Stewart was convicted last year of providing material support to terrorists. Prosecutors said that Stewart and other defendants carried messages between jailed blind sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman and top members of a terrorist organization based in Egypt, helped spread his call to kill those who don't believe in his extremist views. Stewart had also released a statement issued by Abdel-Rahman, who is serving a life sentence for plotting to blow up five New York City landmarks and assassinate Egypt's president. In a letter to the judge, Stewart said she didn't intentionally enter into any conspiracy to help a terrorist organization, declaring, "I am not a traitor."

Lynne Stewart should be executed for treason!

Will Foley Follies Bring Down Crist?

Jeff Bercovici is reporting in Radar...

It's a bad time to be a semi-closeted gay Republican in the sunshine state. Having blown the chance to take down Mark Foley, the Florida press is making up for it by delving into rumors—some fresh, some stale—about attorney general Charlie Crist, the GOP's candidate to succeed Jeb Bush as governor.

Crist, who has been single except for a seven-month marriage in 1979, has long been dogged by speculation that he is gay. Though he has denied it several times (unlike Foley, who never publicly commented on his sexuality until after he resigned from Congress), the whispers have grown louder as election day approaches.

Last week, they broke through to the national media when, in an appearance on Tucker Carlson's MSNBC talkshow, Pat Campbell, an Orlando-based conservative radio host, accused Democratic operatives of floating the gay rumor to help Crist's opponent, Jim Davis, who is behind in the polls. "What are they playing right now? Charlie Crist is gay," Campell complained. "This is the party that supposedly deplores the politics of personal destruction, yet they're experts in it."

Doing business with Doug a nasty habit by Scott Maxwell

Column: Keen must go over Guetzloe by Mike Thomas

Shameful waste
Our position: Keen's actions show he has no business leading the Expressway Authority.

From Scott Maxwell's blog...

Scott,

After reading your blog yesterday and going to the link to Bud’s podcast of his interview, this whole deal boils down to one issue. Doug Guetzloe has railed against the ‘Vested Special Interests’, ‘High Paid Consultants’, and other diversions for our tax money for years, but needs to look in the mirror. This huckster comes along, complains about the expenditures by local government and the wasted money that they pay out. He made himself exactly what he rails against, an overpaid consultant that provides nothing in return. For $107,000 he provided a 2 ½ page summary that essentially said “don’t raise tolls”. In his interview with Bud, he keeps telling us that he separates his “professions”; Talk Show Host, Consultant, and Activist. In light of the conflicts that he puts himself into, he’s made himself visible for what he is, a hypocrite. I’ve never cared for his brand of political smears, but after this, I feel that he is nothing more than a con-artist and huckster, whoring himself out to the highest bidder. His 3 or 4 regular callers to his radio show may still support him and not see this for what it is, but at least Orlando is learning more about him. Finally.

Thanks again,
Adrian Johansson

Millionaire Republican” Author Predicted GOP Would Lose Congress a Month Ago - Now Predicts Senate is in Doubt Too

Root: It Has More to do With Hypocrisy Than Congressman Foley

Wayne Allyn Root, author of the Amazon #1 best-selling book "Millionaire Republican" predicted a month ago at NewsMax.com that the GOP would lose control of Congress. Now he believes control of the Senate is also shifting to Democrats. But Root is the only pundit that does not blame the Foley page scandal. Root says, "That was just the straw that broke the camel's back. The Foley scandal merely showcased the hypocrisy of the GOP. The party I've identified with almost since my birth has been taken over by extremists looking to control every aspect of the lives of Americans. I predicted the GOP would lose their majority over a year ago when Tom DeLay and Bill Frist tried to turn Terri Schivao's death into a political (and government) issue.

"The GOP won control of all branches of government by being the party of limited government, smaller bureaucracy, lower spending, lower taxes, and individual freedom. Instead we have let extreme religious hypocrites turn us into the party of big government - trying to decide whether individuals have a right to die (trying to prevent Terri Schiavo's own husband from making personal decisions), live our lives free from disease (limiting funding for stem cell research), and make personal decisions in our own home (banning online gaming).

"Government and politicians are taking over our lives - from both the right and the left. Individual rights and freedoms are being trampled. Personal responsibility is now a thing of the past; politicians want the government to make all of our personal decisions. It's the "Nanny State" run amok. I believe the Foley scandal just allowed Americans to see the hypocrisy of GOP leaders, and the folly of allowing politicians or government bureaucrats to decide what is right or wrong, moral or immoral.

"While Congressman Foley's fellow GOP politicians were trying to take more of our rights and freedoms away by banning online gaming - declaring they have moral authority to decide what Americans can enjoy in the privacy of their own home, or on their own computer, with their own money - Foley was sending sexual messages to underage boys."

Author Root believes the Foley scandal merely triggered the light bulb going off for the American people. They finally asked the question: Do we want government bureaucrats and politicians deciding our fate, making our decisions, defining what is moral or not, banning our choices of entertainment, deciding what we can or cannot do on our own computers, limiting our rights and freedoms? The answer is a resounding "NO!" The result is a Republican meltdown.

Root, a lifelong Republican, believes a resounding defeat in Congress will be good for the GOP. "Perhaps we can finally take back the party from extremists and religious zealots who are chasing away moderates, independents, and mainstream common-sense American voters. I look forward to a Republican loss so we can finally clean house and return to our Libertarian Republican roots. We are the party of Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater - not Tom DeLay and Bill Frist."

Wayne joins me Friday morning.

Reuters: Study sees 655,000 Iraqi war deaths; Bush disputes

Say what? Where did they get these numbers?

PajamasMedia is blowing the whistle on a public health study that claims there have been 655,000 Iraqi war deaths to date. This number is nearly 13 times larger than previous estimates. The figures were based on a survey conducted by Johns Hopkins and Al Mustansiriya University in Baghdad and have been published in The Lancelot, a medical journal. Ironically, the study comes at the height of midterm campaign season and has already been disputed by the Bush administration. Richard Miniter joins me Friday with details.

Sixth anniversary of the bombing of the USS Cole

NEIN is reporting...
*12 October 2006: Six years ago today, seventeen American sailors died and another 39 were injured in an attack on the American guided missile destroyer, USS Cole, in Aden Harbor, off the coast of Yemen. As the ship was refueling, a small craft piloted by two al Qaeda terrorists and loaded with about 700 pounds of explosives approached the ship and detonated. The blast blew a 40-foot by 40 foot hole in the port side of the USS Cole. The bombing operation was orchestrated by Osama bin Laden and carried out by terrorists Ibrahim al-Thawr and Abdullah al-Misawa.

Bill Clinton did nothing.

Joel Rosenberg stopped by to discuss the Middle East.

In his new non-fiction book, Epicenter: Why The Current Rumblings In The Middle East Will Change Your Future, he explains:

-How soon will Iran have nuclear weapons, according to U.S. and Israeli intelligence?

-Why does Iranian President Ahmadinejad believe the end of the world is just two or three years away? Who is the “Hidden Imam” or the “Mahdi” in radical Shi’ite theology? Why is Ahmadinejad threatening to wipe Israel “off the map” and urging Muslims to “envision a world without the United States”?

-Why is Russia helping Iran go nuclear? Why did Moscow recently sign a $1 billion arms deal with Tehran?

-Does the Bible actually predict the rise of a Russian-Iranian military alliance that will launch a cataclysmic war against the State of Israel in the “last days”?

-What does this emerging Russian-Iranian nuclear alliance mean to America’s future, and what should President Bush and Congress do in light of this gathering nuclear storm?

Get armed with the facts!

If you read only one book this year, make it this one, your future may depend on it!

Book Description
In this startling new book, New York Times bestselling author Robert Spencer, provides a warts-and-all portrait of the Prophet of Islam and draws out what his life implies for reforming Islam and repulsing Islamic terrorists. Spencer relies solely on primary sources considered reliable by Muslims and evaluates modern biographies to show how Muhammad has been changed for Western audiences, lulling them into consoling but false conclusions.

From the Inside Flap
Muhammad: a frank look at his influential (and violent) life and teachings
In The Truth about Muhammad, New York Times bestselling author and Islam expert Robert Spencer offers an honest and telling portrait of the founder of Islam-perhaps the first such portrait in half a century-unbounded by fear and political correctness, unflinching, and willing to face the hard facts about Muhammad's life that continue to affect our world today.

From Muhammad's first "revelation" from Allah (which filled him with terror that he was demonpossessed) to his deathbed (from which he called down curses upon Jews and Christians), it's all here-told with extensive documentation from the sources that Muslims themselves consider most reliable about Muhammad.

Spencer details Muhammad's development from a preacher of hellfire and damnation into a political and military leader who expanded his rule by force of arms, promising his warriors luridly physical delights in Paradise if they were killed in his cause. He explains how the Qur'an's teaching on warfare against unbelievers developed-with constant war to establish the hegemony of Islamic law as the last stage.

Spencer also gives the truth about Muhammad's convenient "revelations" justifying his own licentiousness; his joy in the brutal murders of his enemies; and above all, his clear marching orders to his followers to convert non-Muslims to Islam-or force them to live as inferiors under Islamic rule.

In The Truth about Muhammad, you'll learn

- The truth about Muhammad's multiple marriages (including one to a nine-year-old) - How Muhammad set legal standards that make it virtually impossible to prove rape in Islamic countries - How Muhammad's example justifies jihad and terrorism - The real "Satanic verses" incident (not the Salman Rushdie version) that remains a scandal to Muslims - How Muhammad's faulty knowledge of Judaism and Christianity has influenced Islamic theology--and colored Muslim relations with Jews and Christians to this day.

Recognizing the true nature of Islam, Spencer argues, is essential for judging the prospects for largescale Islamic reform, the effective prosecution of the War on Terror, the democracy project in Afghanistan and Iraq, and immigration and border control to protect the United States from terrorism.

All of which makes it crucial for every citizen (and policymaker) who loves freedom to read and ponder The Truth about Muhammad.

Mind Set!: Reset Your Thinking and See the Future

John Naisbitt stopped by the show to discuss the future.

In a preview of his upcoming book, John Naisbitt shows how to select, evaluate and organize the information that forms the pictures of the future.

The world is never transforming as a whole, nor is everything changing. Most things remain constant. But what are the important shifts taking place in this world and which of the many paths lead into the future? How can we find out and how can we benefit?

Your goal should not be to become a library of information, but to pick and chose what is relevant for you and your field of endeavor. With many examples from sports, science, business and politics at all levels, John Naisbitt shows how you can set your mind to see the future. Among the 11 Mindsets that have helped him the most are: "Don't add unless you subtract," "Focus on the score of the game," "Understand how powerful it is not to have to be right," and "Don't get so far ahead of the parade they don't know you are in it."

You will be able to reconstruct the process which led to the creating of John Naisbitt's pictures of the first half of this 21st century: The Visual world; The shift from Nation States to Economic Domains; Europe's future and China's role in the world; and why waiting for the Next Big Thing is not any better than waiting for Godot. MIND SET! provides pictures of the future and illustrates the impact of deliberately developed thinking.

Showdown with Nuclear Iran: Radical Islam's Messianic Mission to Destroy Israel and Cripple the United States

Jerome Corsi stopped by to talk about Iran and his new book.

Book Description
A terrifying examination of how Iran's president (a radical Shiite zealot) believes he has a "divine mission" to usher in the apocalypse and thereby herald the second coming of a Shia Muslim messiah-and how he is trying to achieve this by building his arsenal and threatening to cripple America and destroy Israel in a nuclear holocaust.

His Corps Value Was Bravery

Great read out of the LA Times...

On Nov. 10, 2004, in 30 minutes of close combat, Marine Pfc. Christopher Adlesperger, a soft-spoken, religious young man who loved poetry and art, attacked an enemy stronghold in Fallouja, Iraq, and killed at least 11 insurgents.

He killed them with his M-16 and with his grenade launcher. He killed them at such close range he could hear the blood gurgling in their mouths and noses.

He protected two wounded squad members from attack and saved innumerable Marines.

When it was over, Adlesperger's face had been bloodied by shrapnel and he had bullet holes in the sleeve and collar of his uniform. He refused to be evacuated until Hodges' body was recovered.

"It was a tremendous bit of fighting," said Col. Patrick Malay, the battalion commander. "He was a quiet kid, but he was remarkable. He was one tough bastard.

'Newsweek' Poll Gives Dems Higher Marks For First Time on Terror War, Moral Values

A Newsweek poll out Saturday (October 7th) holds bad news for Republicans just over a month before the midterm elections, including that Democrats for the first time since 2001 score better with Americans on fighting the war on terror and moral values. Respondents said they trusted Democrats over Republicans to fight the war on terror by a 44 to 37 percent margin, as well as on moral values, by a margin of 42 percent to 36 percent. Democrats also led on all the other issues asked about, including: handling Iraq (47 percent to 34 percent); the economy (53 to 31); health care (57 to 24); federal spending and the deficit (53 to 29); gas and oil prices (56 to 23); and immigration (43 to 34).

North Korea Claims It Conducted Successful Nuclear Test

North Korea claims it has conducted a successful nuclear test and that there was no radiation leakage. IF true, this is pretty serious stuff since it changes the balance of power over in the FarEast and gives the North Koreans added leverage.l China will now react. Japan will most assuredly react. Russia, South Korea and other nearby nations too.

What will the US response be or should be? To address this, please consider the highly informed opinion of Frank Gaffney, president of the Center for Security Policy, and a former Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Reagan whose administration successfully stared down the ominous Soviet nuclear threat.

Tomorrow's Washington Times (Tuesday)

KIM JONG-IL'S COMING-OUT PARTY

By Frank J. Gaffney, Jr.

For several years, North Korea has said it had nuclear weapons and the world has generally assumed that it did. With Pyongyang's apparent underground detonation of such a device on Monday, whatever lingering uncertainty there may have been has dissipated. Call it Kim Jong-Il's coming-out party. Now the question of what to do about one of the most dangerous regimes on the planet - a state-sponsor of terror who has expressed a willingness to sell its nuclear technology to those with the cash to buy it - recurs with fresh urgency.

Let's get one thing straight at the outset: The threat North Korea poses today is actually not appreciably different from that the Stalinist regime constituted last week. The difference is that we no longer have the luxury of ignoring it, or dealing with it through feckless "six-party talks," which amounts to the same thing.

Instead, we need to approach the danger posed by a nuclear-armed North Korea as though it constitutes a mortal peril to American strategic interests in Asia and, perhaps, to this country directly, as well. For, indeed, it does. The idea that a regime that has permitted some two million of its own people to starve to death will better treat others - including ours - is untenable and risky in the extreme.

Consequently, we need now to hold accountable those responsible for the North Korean nuclear program. Communist China has been playing a double-game for years. Without Beijing's military technology, to say nothing of its financial support, strategic protection and food and energy life-lines, Kim Jong-Il's regime would have been toast long ago and its people likely reunited with prosperous South Korea. To a lesser degree, the same can be said of the role played by Vladimir Putin's Russia.

Pakistan was the cut-out for much of the nuclear weapons know-how and equipment that flowed from China to Pyongyang. Nukes-r-Us impresario A.Q. Khan appears to have been used in transfers for which the Pakistani regime sought plausible deniability.

More recently, Iran has been an enabler of North Korea's nuclear and missile programs. Call it the oil-for-weapons program. Pyongyang has been trading mass destruction wherewithal and delivery systems to Tehran in exchange for energy supplies and, presumably, cash. The deal has helped lubricate Kim's steady progress towards ever-longer-range missiles and his acquisition of weapons to go on them. It has also greatly shortened the length of time it is taking Iran, the other charter member of the "Axis of Evil," to get up the learning curve in both areas.

Unfortunately, even our nominal ally, South Korea has become increasingly vital to propping up Kim's regime. It is investing substantial sums in the North, creating industrial zones there for which it has been seeking special treatment in trade arrangements with the United States and otherwise demanding that Pyongyang be appeased by the West.

These sorts of activities can no longer be either ignored or tolerated. While the United States is going to have to pick its shots, it must now adopt the sort of strategy Ronald Reagan employed to destroy the Soviet Union: A concerted campaign aimed at cutting off the funding to, neutralizing the threat from and de-legitimating a hostile regime. Elements of such a campaign would include the following:

Joining with Japan, Australia and others who share our view of the danger posed by North Korea to deny Pyongyang the financial life-support it must have to survive. International corporations operating in the North should be given a choice: Do business with Kim or with the Free World. Those who opt for the former should be denied government contracts, subjected to financial sanctions and import controls and made the focus of divestment initiatives like that which ultimately brought down the South African regime twenty years ago.

Greatly ramping up the U.S. effort to deploy the sort of effective anti-missile defenses first sought by Mr. Reagan in 1983. Thanks to President Bush's leadership, the United States now has the latitude to protect its people against ballistic missile attack. To date, unfortunately, the effort to do so has mostly been confined to a limited, land-based missile defense system. In light especially of the North Korean threat, we need to augment that deployment immediately by modifying the Navy's Aegis fleet air-defense ships with the capability to shoot down ballistic missiles of various ranges - whether launched from places like North Korea or from tramp steamers off our coasts.

In addition, now that the North Koreans have joined the Indians and Pakistanis in demonstrating that our restraint in nuclear testing is not preventing others from doing such experimentation, we need to resume the sort of periodic underground tests essential to ensuring that our deterrent remains as safe, reliable and credible as we can make it. President Reagan strenuously argued that such testing is a non-negotiable requirement. We can no longer responsibly persist in the moratorium on nuclear testing we have observed since 1992.

Finally, the United States must stop pretending that Kim Jong-Il's regime is one with which we can live. Rather than legitimating the regime by negotiating with it - even in multilateral settings, to say nothing of bilateral ones, every effort should now be bent towards discrediting this odious dictatorship, making pariahs of those who perpetuate it and encouraging freedom throughout the Korean peninsula.

President Reagan demonstrated that the peoples enslaved by the Soviet superpower need not be consigned to such a state in perpetuity. So in our time we must bend every effort to ending the tyrannical misrule of the nuclear club's newest, and arguably most dangerous, member: Kim Jong-Il.

Angilo Freeland had a AK-47, a SKS semi auto rifle with 30 round clip and another hand gun stashed at the home in Lakeland where he was staying, he was in Sarasota earlier on the same day, 9/28/06.

It appears that Angilo O. Freeland got a speeding ticket in Sarasota on the same day 9/28/06 as the shooting in Lakeland, the Tampa Tribune printed my info today, 10/07/06, about the ticket.
Angilo O. Freeland was driving a rental car, where did he get it and why ?
This guy was a sleeper.

I'm still trying to determine his legal status. He appears to have been from the Virgin Islands and has a SSN issued in Puerto Rico? It's all rather confusing.

Pelosi's Hypocrisy

Amazing article.. read the whole thing but here is the main point of the article. The article features a gay “rights” founding father, Harry Hay, who promoted man/boy “love” and how Pelosi said nothing when she marched in the same pride parade in 2001 three spots away from him. She said nothing because he was a hero in San Francisco.

When Nancy Met Harry by Jeffrey Lord

Said Harry: "Because if the parents and friends of gays are truly friends of gays, they would know from their gay kids that the relationship with an older man is precisely what thirteen-, fourteen-, and fifteen-year-old kids need more than anything else in the world."

In short, San Francisco's beloved Harry Hay was a vigorous and well-known advocate of older men having sex with young boys. He was a fearless and quite famous advocate for Congressman Mark Foley's behavior.

Which makes one curious about the presence of marcher number 34 in the 2001 Pride Parade. Marching a mere three spots away from the famous Harry Hay, no doubt waving and smiling to the crowd, was, as the Chronicle logged her in the Official Guide and Program Parade Lineup: "U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi."

That would be now Democratic leader of the U.S. Congress and the candidate of the Democratic Party to be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives, the official third in line to be President of the United States.

Surely this is a different Rep. Nancy Pelosi from the one who currently has on her website as Minority Leader the following statement:

"Republican leaders admitted to knowing about Mr. Foley's abhorrent behavior for six months to a year and failed to protect the children in their trust. Republican Leaders must be investigated by the Ethics Committee and immediately questioned under oath."

Abhorrent behavior? If men having sex with children is "abhorrent behavior" then it seems it would be quite logical for a United States Congresswoman to stand up and protest the presence of one of its leading advocates having a place of honor in a civic parade -- a parade in which she herself would be marching mere steps behind him.

Mike Thomas from the Oralando Sentinel stopped by the show.

Khameini: Don't masturbate during Ramadan

Iran's supreme leader answers questions on masturbation and other topics on his website

Deliberate masturbation during the month of Ramadan renders a fast invalid, Iranian Supreme Leader Sayyid Ali Khameini has ruled.

This is hilarious it implies that there is such a thing as indeliberate masturbation. How doe that happen? Do you accidentally lean up against the washer while it's on spin cycle? Whoops!

"If he do not intend masturbation and discharging semen and nothing is discharged, his fasting is correct even though he has done a haram (forbidden) act. But, if he intends masturbation or he knows that he usually discharges semen by this process and semen really comes out, it is a haram intentional breaking fasting," the Iranian leader said, posting the reply on his website.

Do you have a referee with you in the bathroom to give you an official ruling?

Another reader asked: "Once in the holy month of Ramadan, I forgot to brush my teeth, and some tiny bits of food remained in my mouth. I swallowed the bits unintentionally. Do I have to perform the qada (repent) for that day's fast?"

"If you did not know that some bits of food remained between the teeth, or you did not know that they would reach the throat, and they were swallowed unknowingly and unintentionally, then you are not liable to make (repent) of the fast," said Khameini.

So many rules...

'Drink water while standing'

On the website, Khameini also tells Iranians that only jockeys are permitted to gamble on horse races.

He is also asked whether it is permissible for a man to marry a woman only in order to be able to live in his wife's country. "Can a man conclude a marriage contract for a year with a European girl after getting her agreement with the purpose of going to her country?" A reader asked.

"There is no problem in that if they are serious in contracting marriage and it is done with her father's permission if she is virgin," Khameini ruled.

The Iranian leader also told readers they were allowed to "to drink water while standing" at nights. It was "not permissible" to take part in meetings attended by both men and women, he told another reader.

Subject: Legal police action or execution....

Pat,
I know this will be wildly unpopular with your audience, but as an African-American my soul begs me to ask the question, was the shooting of the murder suspect in Polk County a legal police action or an execution? The suspect was shot 68 times, a total of 110 total shots fired. Was that necessary? How many shots does it take to bring a man down? My God, you can go to Iraq and not get shot 68 times! Let me qualify my concerns by saying I'm no bleeding heart for criminals. Be you white, black, or polka-dot, if you do the crime, you deserve to be punished! Conversely, you also deserve (have a right) to be judged by your peers. The sheriff said, they shot all of the rounds they had, and if they had more they would have continued to shoot. That tells me they were not concerned with bringing a suspect to justice, they wanted to bring their justice to the suspect. My heart goes out to the families of those slain deputies. I morn their loss, but what happened in those Polk County woods does not bring honor to the lives or the deaths of those officers.

The New Arena; Here it comes whether you want it or not.

A: When you're playing a shell game with the Magic.

Mike Thomas of the Orlando Sentinel breaks it all down for us. It's a start but still not good enough.

I should point out that the Magic offer is a far cry from the 25% to 33% Mayor Dyer said they needed to pony up.

Foley Resigns From Congress Over E-Mails

Exclusive: The Sexually Explicit Internet Messages That Led to Fla. Rep. Foley's Resignation
September 29, 2006 5:59 PM

Brian Ross, Rhonda Schwartz & Maddy Sauer Report:

Florida Rep. Mark Foley's resignation came just hours after ABC News questioned the congressman about a series of sexually explicit instant messages involving congressional pages, high school students who are under 18 years of age.

In Congress, Rep. Foley (R-FL) was part of the Republican leadership and the chairman of the House caucus on missing and exploited children.

He crusaded for tough laws against those who used the Internet for sexual exploitation of children.

But, according to several former congressional pages, the congressman used the Internet to engage in sexually explicit exchanges.

They say he used the screen name Maf54 on these messages provided to ABC News.

Maf54: You in your boxers, too?
Teen: Nope, just got home. I had a college interview that went late.
Maf54: Well, strip down and get relaxed.

Another message:

Maf54: What ya wearing?
Teen: tshirt and shorts
Maf54: Love to slip them off of you.

And this one:

Maf54: Do I make you a little horny?
Teen: A little.
Maf54: Cool.

The language gets much more graphic, too graphic to be broadcast, and at one point the congressman appears to be describing Internet sex.

Federal authorities say such messages could result in Foley's prosecution, under some of the same laws he helped to enact.

Q: Does this make republicans hypocritical? After all the went after Bill Clinton for a sex scandal.

A: No! I'll tell you why Monday morning.
