Students Charged After Allegedly Saying Parsley Was Drugs

PALM COAST, Fla. -- The Flagler County Sheriff's Office said two elementary students were taken into custody after pretending a plastic bag of parsley was marijuana.

The 10-year-old girls are students at Old Kings Elementary School. An arrest report said the girls were showing classmates a plastic bag with a green leafy substance they said was marijuana. School officials learned of the alleged bag of marijuana and called the girls into a conference with their parents.

Officials said the girls said they brought the bag of parsley to school as a prank. A spokeswoman for the sheriff's office said it's a crime in Florida to claim that a substance is a drug.

The girls were taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility and released to their parents. They are suspended from school and must attend drug awareness classes.
It's good to know we are winning the war on drugs. Now I understand why they're trying to get Tookie Williams off of Death Row. So they can make room for the real bad guys.

Dumpster Diving the Freegan Lifestyle

Here's a British paper laughing at Americans. It's all about the idiots- not homeless people, but middle-class or higher- who make a lifestyle about dumpster-diving for food. They're "freegans," people who do it for political/environmental purposes.

New Video Game Consoles Allow Parents to Restrict What Their Kids Can Play

Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have all designed their newest video game consoles to allow parents to restrict what games their kids can play based on ratings given the games by the Entertainment Software Rating Board. Microsoft put the parental control technology in the Xbox system that went on sale last week, Nintendo announced it will have parental controls in its new console, and Sony also said parental controls will be in the PlayStation 3 console scheduled for launch next year.

The Entertainment Software Association, which represents U.S. computer and video game publishers, says it's very happy with the voluntary move to, quote, "put the power to regulate the games kids play where it belongs, in the hands of parents," president Douglas Lowenstein said in a statement. According to Lowenstein, there are many games produced that are made specifically for adults, since the average age of computer game player is now 30 years old.

Video-game gore sinks to new low: Cannibalism

Games featuring graphic scenes of cannibalism, "F.E.A.R." and "Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse," were among the 12 "games to avoid" listed Tuesday by the National Institute on Media and the Family.

"It's something we've never seen before," said institute President David Walsh, warning that today's games are "more extreme" and more easily available to underage kids than ever before.

In "Stubbs the Zombie," the lead character eats the brains of humans as blood splatters across the screen.

"It's just the worst kind of message to kids," said Sen. Joe Lieberman.

Vatican affirms ban on gay priests

Is the Pope scapegoating gay clergy?

VATICAN CITY - The Vatican on Tuesday published its long-awaited document on gays in the priesthood, saying that men with “deep-seated” gay tendencies shouldn’t be ordained but that those with “transitory” tendencies could be if they had overcome them for three years.

Michael Rose author of "BENEDICT XVI: The Man Who Was Ratzinger" and "Goodbye, Good Men" stops by the PC Show to discuss this development & it's implications.

Now that's a Christmas bonus to remember!

It’s like buying a gift for the guy who has everything: What can you do to impress the boss for whom you’ve already been pulling all-nighters and all-weekenders? That’s the dilemma faced by thousands of investment bankers in New York every fall, when bonus season gets under way. Starting sometime after Labor Day and ending before Christmas, everybody in the financial industry is on their best, most obsequious behavior, hoping to curry the favor of those who divvy up the spoils. And what spoils there are this year—the 2005 bonus season looks to be Wall Street’s biggest haul in five years. Last year, the New York State Comptroller’s office estimated the average bonus on Wall Street to be a clean $100,600 (or $15.9 billion split among 158,000 employees). Early estimates of the 2005 bonus pool reach as high as $19 billion.

Typically, Goldman Sachs’s announcement of its third-quarter results kicks the bonus season into high gear. Long revered for being where the serious money gets made, the firm has had a blowout year even by its own standards. Announcing a record profit in the third quarter, Goldman also noted that it had set aside $9.25 billion, almost $420,000 per employee, in compensation. When fourth-quarter results are factored in, that total could swell to an $11 billion pool, or $500,000 per employee.
Now that's the way to say Happy Holidays! What a novel idea rewarding worker productivity. A bonus based on your performance. How much did you get this year? If the answer is nothing maybe you're not producing.

The Death of George Best

Best had battled alcoholism for decades and was diagnosed with severe liver damage in 2000. He received a liver transplant in 2002 but later resumed drinking. In 2004, he was banned from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to drunken driving.

Even with his alcoholism and other woes -- he was briefly jailed for assault and encountered gambling and tax problems -- Best retained his popularity with fans as well as his standing as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

People like Best, Micky Mantle, Larry Hagman & David Crosby that blow out their livers on booze and drugs should not get a second liver. It should be given to a more deserving candidate.

'Made in Mexico' Uniforms Miff Border Cops

Isn't it ironic?

'Made in Mexico' Uniforms Cause Many U.S. Border Patrol Agents to Bristle

WASHINGTON Nov 27, 2005 — The labels inside the U.S. Border Patrol uniforms have been making many federal agents feel uneasy. It's not the fit or feel of the olive-green shirts and pants, but what their labels read: "Made in Mexico."

"It's embarrassing to be protecting the U.S.-Mexico border and be wearing a uniform made in Mexico," says T.J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, a 6,500-member union.

Agents and lawmakers are concerned about the consequences if the uniforms for agents charged with combating illegal immigration fall into the hands of criminals or terrorists.

"If we're manufacturing uniforms in Mexico, what's to stop someone from walking across the border in a Border Patrol uniform?" asked Rep. John Carter, a Republican from Round Rock. "How do you know who are our guys and who are their guys?"

Bush plans anti-illegals campaign

President Bush today will call for a crackdown on illegal immigration, a move aimed at further rallying conservatives who recently cheered Mr. Bush's tough talk on Iraq and the Supreme Court.
But the president will also renew his call for a program to allow Mexicans who have already entered the U.S. illegally to remain here for up to six years. That initiative has long angered conservatives who equate it with amnesty.
"This is going to be about comprehensive immigration reform," a senior White House official said of today's Arizona speech. "He's going to talk about the three elements that comprise such reform -- border security, interior enforcement and a temporary worker program."
Is Bush serious about cracking down on illegal immigration or just giving us lip service? I'll be looking for 3 things today. 1) If he's serious he'll announce the use of the Military to secure the borders. 2)He'll crack down hard and heavy on those that employ illegal immigrants. 3) He'll announce some form of tamper proof ID everybody must have to work in the U.S.(i.e. Social Security cards using the technology we use for credit cards). If any of these 3 are missing he isn't serious.

In 'wrongful life' suit, disabled woman blames doctor for letting her be born.

From blogsforterri...

The most appalling thing you'll ever read. Guaranteed

This is a story about a young woman in NSW, Aus who was born both visually and hearing impaired because of suspected rubella in her mother during pregnancy. That's certainly sad, but it's surely not a hurdle that can't be overcome with a bit of luck.

The sickening part of this story is that the young woman (now 24 and, seemingly, on the insistence of her mum) is suing the doctors who did not effectively diagnose rubella. Why? Because, had it been known, her mother would have terminated her pregnancy.

In no other instance beyond the Terri Schiavo case have I seen such an embrace of bigotry against a disabled person. To say that this young woman is better dead than deaf or blind is no different than saying a child born with any hurdle is not worthy of life. What's sicker still is that her mother seems to embrace this concept. How does that impact the young woman?

Now, we have a suit for 'wrongful life' which will surely influence a good number of doctors. I find the image of the mother 'embracing' the young woman the most ill-making thing I've ever seen. Does she really think this is a 'wrongful life'???? Could you if it were your child?

Is this a frivolous revenue-generation exercise, or is this just another chip at the stone? We certainly live in a sick, sick world.

The speech President Bush should give about Iraq.

Read JAMES Q. WILSON's excellent article in Today's WSJ...

My fellow Americans: We are winning, and winning decisively, in Iraq and the Middle East. We defeated Saddam Hussein's army in just a few weeks. None of the disasters that many feared would follow our invasion occurred. Our troops did not have to fight door to door to take Baghdad. The Iraqi oil fields were not set on fire. There was no civil war between the Sunnis and the Shiites. There was no grave humanitarian crisis.

Saddam Hussein was captured and is awaiting trial. His two murderous sons are dead. Most of the leading members of Saddam's regime have been captured or killed. After our easy military victory, we found ourselves inadequately prepared to defeat the terrorist insurgents, but now we are prevailing.

Iraq has held free elections in which millions of people voted. A new, democratic constitution has been adopted that contains an extensive bill of rights. Discrimination on the basis of sex, religion or politics is banned. Soon the Iraqis will be electing their first parliament.

Has Arlen Specter lost his mind?

In Today's Washington Times Arlen Specter is calling for the DOUBLING of legal immigrants allowed into this country. Has he lost his mind? You know several years ago Arlen had a brain tumor removed. I have long said the operation was botched. The doctor missed the tumor and accidentally removed Specter's frontal lobe. This latest stunt is proof positive of my theory. This RINO is going in the opposite direction of where we should be headed. Read the Washington Times story HERE.

Ohio Imam Arrested for Terrorist Ties

FOX News is reporting...

CLEVELAND — Federal authorities arrested an Islamic religious leader Friday as they began the process of deporting him for lying about ties to terrorist groups.

Imam Fawaz Damra, the spiritual leader of Ohio's largest mosque, was convicted in June 2004 of concealing ties to three groups that the U.S. government classifies as terrorist organizations when he applied for U.S. citizenship in 1994.

That conviction was upheld in March, clearing the way for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to begin deportation proceedings.

Damra, 44, was arrested early Friday without incident, the immigration office said.

"With today's arrest, ICE begins the process of removing from the United States a criminal alien who has unequivocally supported terrorists and terrorist organizations," Brian Moskowitz, special agent with the federal office in Detroit, said in a statement.
Deportation? Deportation? That's the punishment? You've got to be kidding me? Is this some sort of a sick twisted joke? This clown should be locked up for life and the key thrown away. Imam Fawaz Damra is a threat to the United States and our allies in the Middle East. What are the Feds doing? This is like an ugly game of Monopoly gone bad. Here you go Mr. Imam you've got one free get of jail card. Meanwhile Joe Six Pack sits in front of the boob tube stuffing his face with turkey consumed by the split up of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey.

Why don't they bring Imam Fawaz Damra up on charges of conspiracy to aid and abet terrorism and convict him like they did New York attorney Lynne Stewart?

Florida experts insist first Thanksgiving here

We were first!

Sure, Massachusetts has its pilgrims, its Mayflower, its turkey and corn.

But when it comes to Thanksgiving, Florida historians have been saying the same thing for years: It happened first in the Sunshine State — with salt pork, sea biscuits and garbanzo beans.
In the 1560s, French and Spanish settlers arrived separately on Florida's northern coast, and each celebrated with prayer and a thanksgiving feast. The Spanish gathering at St. Augustine even featured guests from a local American Indian tribe.

"They were thanking God, they had food, they said prayers," said Paul George, a history professor at Miami-Dade College. "They were the first ones to essentially give us a recorded celebration."

It wasn't until 1621, more than 50 years later, that Pilgrims came to Plymouth, Mass., and held the feast that was later dubbed the first Thanksgiving.

Giant's Stadium, Continental Airlines Arena Set Aside Muslim Prayer Area

Doug Hagmann's Northeast Intelligence Network is reporting...

"First Islamic Pray-Ground" of New Jersey
Douglas J. Hagmann, Director
23 November 2005: If you thought that the explanation given by a group of Muslims to security officials at the Meadowlands on September 19, 2005 strained credulity, you might find yourself equally or perhaps more mystified at the end result: an area at Giant's Stadium - as well as the Continental Airlines Arena - is scheduled to be designated a "prayer area" at the behest of Muslims. George Zoffinger, the president of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, said he agreed to designate areas to pray at the football stadium and the nearby Continent al Airlines Arena in response to a complaint of "religious profiling."

Visitors to this website might recall that a football game broke out during an impromptu Muslim Prayer service at the Meadowlands on September 19, 2005. The Northeast Intelligence Network investigated this incident and provided detailed information HERE.

Court papers: Girl chose to go with Pa. teen

14-year-old said she planned to marry man who allegedly shot her parents

LANCASTER, Pa. - A 14-year-old girl whose 18-year-old boyfriend allegedly fatally shot her parents left willingly with him after the slayings and was not kidnapped, prosecutors said in court papers filed Monday.

Kara Borden told detectives she left of her own free will, according to the filing. David Ludwig told detectives the two planned to get married and start a new life together.

As I mentioned on the show it's becoming clear that this girl a was an accomplice a willing participant. She should be charged and punished to the fullest extent of the law. I can't believe the lawyers out there acting as apologist for this young girl saying... "What purpose would that serve she's already been punished enough she lost her Mom and Dad?"

Lame Excuse Of The Week

Remember the Seminole County judge charged with jailing 11 people because they went to the wrong courtroom? You'll never believe his pathetic excuse. According to the Orlando Sentinel...

He had ordered them to jail, in large part, because of ADHD, he said.

"I can never properly atone to those people who had to suffer in order for me to understand and address my disorders," Sloop told the prosecutor. "I've learned so much from this."

The ADHD so clouded his judgment, he said, that he ignored warnings from three people -- two of them judges -- who told him the arrests were the result of a mix-up. Instead, he took a lunch break to eat popcorn, then left the building to get parts for a trailer. Once he returned, he continued to ignore the problem and began his afternoon hearings.

It finally occurred to him shortly after the arrests, after he learned that people were outraged by what he'd done, that he might have a psychological problem, he said.

He saw a television commercial about ADHD and, after talking with his wife, he filled out an ADHD quiz from the Internet and learned that he might need help, he said. He went to his family doctor, who referred him to a psychiatrist.

In February, Dr. Heidi Napolitano gave Sloop the official ADHD diagnosis, according to judicial-commission records.

Sloop said his symptoms include: putting off starting tasks that require a lot of thought; squirming; and having trouble paying attention when he is bored or doing repetitive work.
This clown should be kicked off the bench for coming up with such a pathetic excuse!

Success In War On Drugs: Cocaine Prices Up And Quality Down

The Bush administration announced signs of success with the $4 billion drug war on cocaine in Columbia, as the street price of the drug has increased and the purity rate decreased, The New York Times reports. According to the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, the price of a gram of cocaine rose 19 percent between February and September, to $170, while the purity level dropped 15 percent.

Drug policy analysts are skeptical, saying the White House was drawing conclusions from too short a time period. Though the administration sprayed 36,000 acres of coca plants in 2004, they admitted the amount of coca in Colombia was "statistically unchanged" from 2003 and that Colombia still produces more than enough cocaine to satisfy the American demand. Cocaine trafficking has regularly rebounded after slower periods, said John Walsh, part of a policy analysis group who follows American drug policy for the Washington Office on Latin America.

You have got to be kidding me! You call this success? The War on Drugs has been an abject failure. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying! Prohibition didn't work with alcohol why would anyone think it would work with drugs? This is all about control as long as drugs remain illegal the bad guys are in control.

American troops kiss and tell, find out which weapons suck, and which totally rock

Which commonly used weapons in Iraq do our brave soldiers give the thumbs up to and which do they thumb their nose at? Here is a review from The JAWA Report.

1) The M-16 rifle : Thumbs down. Chronic jamming problems with the talcum powder like sand over there. The sand is everywhere. [The Marine] says you feel filthy 2 minutes after coming out of the shower. The M-4 carbine version is more popular because it's lighter and shorter, but it has jamming problems also. They like the ability to mount the various optical gunsights and
weapons lights on the picattiny rails, but the weapon itself is not great in a desert environment. They all hate the 5.56mm (.223) round. Poor penetration on the cinderblock structure common over there and even torso hits cant be reliably counted on to put the enemy down.
Fun fact: Random autopsies on dead insurgents shows a high level of opiate use.

7) The ..45 pistol: Thumbs up. Still the best pistol round out there. Everybody authorized to carry a sidearm is trying to get their hands on one. With few exceptions, can reliably be expected to put 'em down with a torso hit. The special ops guys (who are doing most of the pistol work) use the HK military model and supposedly love it. The old government model .45's are
being re-issued en masse.

9) The Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle: Thumbs way up. Spectacular range and accuracy and hits like a freight train. Used frequently to take out vehicle suicide bombers ( we actually stop a lot of them) and barricaded enemy. Definitely here to stay.

Bad guy weapons:
1) Mostly AK47's The entire country is an arsenal. Works better in the desert than the M16 and the .308 Russian round kills reliably. PKM belt fed light machine guns are also common and effective. Luckily, the enemy mostly shoots like shit. Undisciplined "spray and pray" type fire. However, they are seeing more and more precision weapons, especially sniper rifles. (Iran,
again)
Fun fact: Captured enemy have apparently marveled at the marksmanship of our guys and
how hard they fight. They are apparently told in Jihad school that the Americans rely solely on technology, and can be easily beaten in close quarters combat for their lack of toughness. Let's just say they know better now.

Home School Movement Needs Metal Detectors, Says Pat Robertson

The K-12 expandable metal detector

VIRGINIA BEACH, Vir. - Calling the shooting deaths of Michael and Cathryn Borden "the home schooling movement's very own Columbine," televangelist Pat Robertson urged parents who home school their children to install metal detectors in their houses.

The Bordens, both 50, who home schooled the three youngest of their five children, resided near the village of Lititz, in the heart of Pennsylvania's Amish country. Early last Sunday morning David G. Ludwig, 18, who had been dating the Bordens' fourteen-year-old daughter, Kara Beth, shot and killed her parents over a curfew dispute and their refusal to host a prom for the Lititz Area Home School Network.

"Just because Jesus was home schooled," said Robertson, "we can no longer afford to assume every home-schooled pupil walks with Jesus in his heart. The presence of a metal detector in the Bordens' home could have prevented this tragedy."

House Rejects Dem Plan to Cut and Run

NewsMax is reporting...

The House of Representatives overwhelming rejected last night a proposal to immediately withdraw troops from Iraq, after two days of over-hyped media coverage of Democratic Rep. John Murtha's call for a U.S. pullout.

In a lopsided 403 to 3 vote, Democrats showed they were unwilling to back Murtha's pullout proposal - even though many voiced support of his anti-war announcement earlier this week.

"Our military has done everything that has been asked of them, the U.S. cannot accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily," Murtha, a 37-year Marine veteran, said Thursday.

"It's time to bring them home," Murtha said.

Though the American media ballyhooed Murtha's comments as an indication that support for the war was collapsing at home, Friday night's vote showed there was almost no backing in Congress for such a move.

Only three left-wing radicals voted for Murtha's plan - Reps. Cynthia McKinney, Jose Serano and Robert Wexler.
This was a brilliant move by the Republicans "Put up or shut up".

2 guards arrested in death of teen
One of the men faces manslaughter charges in the Sanford shooting, a case that has fueled NAACP criticism.
SANFORD -- Two white security guards who shot and killed a black teenager in July in the parking lot of a Sanford apartment complex were arrested Friday on grand-jury indictments.

William P. Swofford, who investigators said fired the fatal shot that penetrated Travares McGill's heart, was charged with manslaughter. He and the other security guard, Bryan P. Ansley, also were charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle.

They surrendered at Seminole County Jail on Friday afternoon and were released on bail -- $10,000 for Swofford and $4,900 for Ansley -- a short time later.
Cop charged with battery
FDLE says his use of force on a suspect was criminal.
An Orlando Police Department officer faces felony battery charges after investigators said he beat a homeless man so badly while on duty that the man suffered permanent brain damage and now struggles to communicate, officials said Friday.

Officer Edward J. Michael, 30, turned himself in to the Orange County Jail on one count each of second-degree aggravated battery intentionally causing great bodily harm and third-degree felony battery intentionally striking a person against his will.
According to WFTV 9...
Jeffrey Goff, 44, suffered serious facial fractures and almost died. He's 5'4" tall and, at the time, weighed about 140 pounds. He was no match for Michael, who is over 6' tall and weighs over 200 pounds.

When Channel 9 checked Michael's record with the Orlando Police Department, they found he was investigated by his own department seven times in his six years on the force. In one case, security guard David Rodriguez said Michael caused his facial injuries after throwing him to the ground and putting a gun to his head. All Rodriguez had done was call 9-1-1 to report gunfire.

Lesbian gang leader gets 28 years for murder of baker

Scary stuff! I didn't even know there were Lesbian gangs.

The leader of a lesbian gang was jailed for 28 years last night for the murder of a country baker in a robbery described by the prosecution as revealing a clash of cultures between "two kinds of France".
Kind of hard to blame this one on Muslim immigrants.

The prosecuting lawyer, André Merle, contrasted the life of Mr Bétrix, who rose early each day and worked long hours, and those of Rossi and her two accomplices, "who don't work and don't especially look for work".

He told the court in St Etienne: "These are two kinds of France colliding with each other. It is for you to say which France we ought to protect and which one we must repress."
Something like this happened here too, the victims name was Vince Foster.

'A hard life' ends violently in area known for drug sales

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting...

A bullet that killed an Orlando man late Wednesday struck him in the chest within inches of a tattoo asking the eternal question, "WHY ME."

Death caught up with Zaus Walker on the shoulder of Lee Road, an area west of Interstate 4 known for hookers, high-priced steaks and late-night drug sales. He collapsed after stumbling through four lanes of traffic after the 9 p.m. shooting.
This is such a sad story. Zaus Walker dead at the age of 38. He was a father of 12! He spent the last 13 years of his life in jail. How is it possible for him to have 12 children? This part's even sadder.

On Thursday, someone erected a temporary memorial on a bloodstained section of Lee Road sidewalk. Plastic wrapping protected a teddy bear holding some of Walker's favorite things: a pack of Newport cigarettes, a $1.79 bottle of MD 20/20 Blue Raspberry wine cooler, and a three-piece Popeye's chicken-and-biscuit dinner.
This is what you're going to be remembered for? This is what your life was all about cigarettes, Mad Dog and Popeye's? How tragic!

NAACP chief makes switch to GOP

Scott Maxwell reports in the Orlando sentinel today...

For decades, Republicans have struggled to reach out to black Americans. But now in Orange County, the GOP has to reach no further than the NAACP.

As of this week, Derrick Wallace, head of Orange County's NAACP, has switched parties -- to become a Republican.

"I've thought about this for two years," Wallace said Tuesday afternoon, just a few hours after returning from the elections office. "This is not a decision I made yesterday."

It is, however, a decision that rang out like a shot among political circles.

Republican Party leader Lew Oliver described himself as "extraordinarily pleased," while Democratic leader Tim Shea said he was disappointed.

Wallace, a construction-company exec, was candid about the fact that his business life was a big part of his decision to change.

"It's purely a business decision. Ninety percent of those I do business with are Republicans," he said. "Opportunities that have come to my firm have been brought by Republicans."

To that, Shea responded: "I'm a little confused. Are we talking about the National Association for the Advancement of Construction Professionals -- or Colored People?"
Is this a major coup for the GOP or is Derrick Wallace just a smart business man?

Of course, he still believes the old population-explosion stuff that was discredited decades ago (remember, the world was supposed to have run out of food by now) and if he really put the environment over human survival, he'd kill himself so his own use of resources would cease, but he's not THAT committed to the cause, I suppose.

With Thanksgiving and the holiday season approaching, U.S. internet users use the internet to plan their holiday, or research the destinations they are traveling to. DisneyLand and Las Vegas are the leading destinations (Imedia Connection, 11/1). Orlando comes in at #3 with Disney World.

Your Wednesday Morning Jack Attack Out of Harm's Way

Jack Thompson eats giants for breakfast. Just ask media giant and shock-jock Howard Stern, who ranted on air about the "one lunatic lawyer" who got him kicked off the air. Jack, an outraged father and activist lawyer, is on a mission to protect children from the violent and obscene video games, music lyrics, shock jock radio shows, and television programs he says are creating a culture of violence and degradation. Going beyond outrage, Thompson chronicles his own spiritual journey from bystander to activist and offers the sociological, medical, scientific, and legal evidence that will motivate all Americans--especially parents--to get involved.

Orlando needs a new slogan, you can help.

Las Vegas has "What happens here stays here."

Tombstone, Ariz., "The town too tough to die."

Atlantic City, "Always turned on."

Roswell, N.M.: "The aliens aren't the only reason to visit."

Everybody knows...

The Big Apple

The Windy City

The City of Angels

The City of Lights

The City of Brotherly Love

The Big Easy

What do we have? The City Beautiful. Hardly memorable, it's old school and doesn't have any kick. What do you recommend?

A good slogan will attract attention, stimulate curiosity and fill the residents' hearts with pride. A great slogan will create impact, inspire, motivate and make a lasting impression.

Here's my choice...

The Big O, you'll want to come!

Bottler offers salmon-flavoured soda

SEATTLE - For beverage connoisseurs tired of turkey-and-gravy or green-beans-and-casserole flavoured sodas, there's a new choice being offered this year by speciality U.S. soda maker Jones Soda Co.: salmon.

Jones Soda, the Seattle company that scored a hit during the last two holiday seasons with its turkey and gravy-flavoured sodas, said it is offering the orange-hued fish-flavoured drink this year in a nod to the Pacific Northwest's salmon catch.

"When you smell it, it's got that smoked salmon aroma," said Peter van Stolk, chief executive of Jones Soda.

The salmon-flavoured soda will be offered as part of a $13 "regional holiday pack" that also includes other unusual sodas such as turkey & gravy, corn on the cob, broccoli casserole and pecan pie.

B.C. Mayoral Candidate Suggests Using Crack As Incentive For Addicted Homeless

KELOWNA, B.C. -- A candidate in the mayoral race in Kelowna, B.C. suggests using crack to deal with the city's drug-addicted homeless people.

Andrew Uitvlugt says crack could be used as a reward or incentive to motivate people to do constructive work in the city, like picking up garbage.

Once they've done their duties, he figures the addicts will feel so good about themselves, they may not need the crack, or less of it.
Now here's a guy who can really think outside the box!

Florida lawmaker wants a pink license plate on the car of anyone convicted of DUI

Local6 is reporting...
CLEARWATER, Fla. -- A Republican senator wants a law to require bright pink license plates on vehicles driven by people with restricted driving privileges due to convictions for driving under the influence.

Sen. Mike Fasano, of New Port Richey, filed a bill earlier this month that requires the first three characters on the plate to read "DUI."

"Maybe it will embarrass people and keep them from drinking and driving," Fasano said. "Maybe they'll think twice."

School, Police Deny Hiding Arrest Of UCF Football Player

Did UCF hide the arrest of Ron Ellis? I say the media dropped the ball it's their job to check the Police Blotters. Read the WFTV article HERE. In my opinion the University did everything by the book Ellis was arrested, charged with sexual battery and suspended from the team. What more do you want?

Sheriff's Executive Assistants Paid More Than Deputies

Are Sheriff Beary's Executive Assistants overpaid? You make the call.

Pam Cook didn't have to work the streets for the sheriff's office. She's an executive assistant for Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary and for that she was paid $71,744 a year.

Patricia Russell makes $61,900. Christina Bryson and Beverly Thornton both make $59,000. Victoria Arndt makes $53,000.

DID BUSH LIE? GOOGLE IT

The Bush administration is finally and concertedly pushing back against the Deaniac Democrat lie that President Bush somehow lied us into war in Iraq. The president has delivered two speeches in the past few days that take direct aim at those Democrats who voted in favor of the war but now claim that the administration duped them into that vote by lying about the intelligence regarding Saddam's WMD. All of this is to the good, and it's long past being about time the administration did this. A majority of the country now sees President Bush as a dishonest man; the "Bush LIED" meme and the administration's lack of a robust self-defense against it are two big reasons why.

The tragedy of the situation is that the administration could prove beyond doubt that it didn't lie its way into war just by promoting a simple Google search.

Type in Clinton Iraq 1998

Google will take you back in time to 1998, the last time prior to the invasion that the US and Saddam Hussein had a major confrontation. The Google search string Clinton Iraq 1998 will bring up 3.5 million hits about that conflict, during which pretty much every prominent Democrat expressed his or her belief that Saddam had or was developing WMD and was a threat because of it.

No one believed then or since that any US action including Operation Desert Fox in December 1998 completely destroyed Saddam's WMD programs. So if the Democrats believed in those weapons back then, why are they claiming to have been fooled by Bush into believing in them in 2002 and 2003? Well, it's obviously politics at work--the leftwing base of the Democrat party has pulled even its national security hawks to the left, where conspiracy theories rule. And the biggest conspiracy theory that the left loves concerns the war, and how Bush LIED us into it.

So Google it. Prove for yourself that he didn't, and indeed couldn't have. Tell your wavering friends to Google Clinton Iraq 1998. If you have Bush-hating friends, make them do that search and then watch their world crumble around them.

Five questions non-Muslims would like answered

Excellent read by Dennis Prager in the LA Times.

(1) Why are you so quiet?
(2) Why are none of the Palestinian terrorists Christian?
(3) Why is only one of the 47 Muslim-majority countries a free country?
(4) Why are so many atrocities committed and threatened by Muslims in the name of Islam?
(5) Why do countries governed by religious Muslims persecute other religions?

Dual-language classes increase in Central Florida

Another bad idea brought to you by our Public Schools.

Dual-language classes, which mix foreign- and American-born students in one classroom and teach them standard subjects in two languages throughout the day, have steadily grown in Central Florida school districts in recent years.
As a teacher you just cut my instructional time in half and slowed my class to a snails pace. Once again the kid lose as we bow to the gods of multiculturalism and diversity.

By the way the school they site in the article went from a B to a C on the FCATs. Do you think Dual-language classes had anything to do with the decline?

Rather than waiting until high school, where language instruction is typically limited to a few hours a week, Susan Schneider signed up her son Alex in a dual-language program at Thacker Avenue at the start of kindergarten.

Another violation of your privacy brought to you by the Sunshine State.

Due to recent changes made by the Florida Legislature, all voter registration records will become open public records as of January 1, 2006. Items such as social security numbers will not be public record; however the names, addresses, birth dates, telephone numbers and other non-exempted information will be open to the public without restriction.

There are certain individuals whose personal information is specifically exempted.

Anybody ever hear of identity theft? What useful purpose is served in making the private information of law abiding citizens public?

Perverted Justice

Chris Hansen did this excellent expose on Dateline NBC last week. I'm talking about it Friday morning.

Late last August three hidden camera engineers, 2 regular cameramen, a soundman, 2 volunteers from a vigilante group that exposes computer predators, a producer, an associate producer, a security provider and I moved into a big home in an affluent suburb of Washington, DC. The mission: to explore the sometimes dark world of Internet chat rooms and to expose predators who seek to seduce children.

Even before I arrived on the scene, Mitch and Eric Waggonberg and their team had installed eleven hidden cameras and essentially built a control room on the second floor of the house. The cameras could be panned and zoomed from the second floor. One room over, the volunteers from the vigilante group called Perverted Justice were in regional chat rooms of Yahoo and AOL, posing as 12, 13 or 14 year old kids. They posted profiles with pictures of boys and girls who were unmistakably underage. And huddled in with them, a computer researcher was standing by to dig into the backgrounds of men who came to our house to meet a child for sex.

Besides the rabbi, there was a doctor, a special education teacher, an army man, a defense contractor, a medical student… the list goes on. Not one of these men, if you saw him on the street would stand out in a crowd. Some were defiant, claiming they’d done nothing wrong. Many said this was the first time they’d ever done anything like this and they weren’t really going to go through with it. Some broke down and admitted an addiction to the Internet.

Tony Blankly joined me this morning to discuss last night's election results and the French riots.

In today’s Washington Times, Tony Blankley, author of The West’s Last Chance, discusses the ramifications of the France riots and what is driving the rioters to violence. Eerily, he also points out that in his book, which was finished this past April, predicted riots would break out in Europe in the Muslim communities. What is next for Europe and could this ever happen in the United States?

Check out Blankly's column in The Washington Times today.

The Orlando Sentinel's weekday circulation declined 11 percent!

Daily national newspaper circulation fell again during the six months ended in September, dropping an average 2.6 percent, the Audit Bureau of Circulations reported Monday.

The Orlando Sentinel's weekday circulation declined 11 percent.
What do you think accounts for the decline? How can they turn things around? Are you buying their explanation?

The Sentinel attributed the decline to a decision to reduce delivery to hotel rooms. Without the reduction, the paper said circulation would have fallen 2 percent on weekdays and Sunday.

**UPDATE** WFTV Ch 9 has pulled the list from their site.

WFTV has pulled the list of conceal carry permit holders from their website. Details Wednesday morning.

Richard Miniter stops by to discuss the French Riots

Richard Miniter has unique European experience. He is a New York Times bestselling author and was an editor for the Wall Street Journal – Europe. He lived in Brussels for five years, and has extensive contacts across France, from whom he has learned new information over the past two days.

Rich Miniter has fresh on-the-ground information related to the Paris riots:

The population bomb:
“There are more practicing Muslims in France today than baptized Roman Catholics. The most popular name for a boy is Mohammad…”

It's bigger than France:
“Consulting my Belgian sources, the riots have spread to Belgium and The Netherlands, so the problem is a lot bigger than just France. All of Continental Europe could go up in flames. One out of nine Swedes is a Muslim immigrant. One out of ten Danes is a Muslim immigrant. One out of eight Dutch are Muslim immigrants. Roughly the same percentages apply to Germany and Belgium and Italy.”

Islam isn't the issue.
“Despite what many believe, the problem isn’t Islam. The riots rage in French housing projects that have been abandoned by the police for years, leaving them in the control of violent North African Muslim gangs. Thanks to the help of the Russian mafia, these Muslim gangs are often better armed than the police -- with machine guns and rocket launchers. The riots are really a civil war about who controls these suburbs -- Muslim gangs or the French government.”

French riots threaten the United States.
“The European strategy of designating Muslim neighborhoods as “no-go” areas for police makes them fertile breeding grounds for terrorism. The 9-11 plot was hatched in a “no-go” Muslim neighborhood in Hamburg, Germany. If the French lose this fight, Europe will have hundreds of staging areas for terrorist attacks against the U.S.”

Poverty doesn't explain the French riots.
Miniter devotes an entire chapter in his new book Disinformation: 22 Media Myths That Undermine the War on Terror that debunks the link between terrorism and poverty.

As an internationally recognized expert on terrorism, Rich Miniter, the author of two New York Times bestsellers, has now written Disinformation: 22 Media Myths That Undermine the War on Terror

Hi Pat,

I am fuming right now. Channel 9 tonight, and on their website, have provided the names and addresses of all of Florida's CCW licensees. This now becomes a shopping list for criminals to go and steal guns they know are there! And if they encounter someone in the home while the gun owner is absent, and presumably has the gun with him, what would an angry criminal do to that person? My wife is now petrified to come home from her part-time job to an empty house...well maybe not!

I'm going to change my license information to my PO Box, but that will take weeks to go into effect. Meanwhile, my family has been made a target by WFTV!

This is without doubt another irresponsible action taken by the liberal news media without any regard whatsoever for the damage and harm they cause. I can only hope you jump on this situation with both feet.

I'm going to call Jeb Bush tomorrow to find out why the counties made this information available to the media. Next I'll contact all advertisers on WFTV to let them know what they are party to being associated with this station, then onto my blog for a protracted series on this subject.

Thanks for letting vent this...for now.

Ron

What useful purpose is served in making the private information of law abiding citizens public?

From a listener...

Pat:

Below is the letter I sent to my State Senator and Representative regarding protecting the privacy of lawful citizens who apply for and/or hold concealed carry permits. You are welcome to read it on the air.

MANY THANKS for spotlighting this issue!

The Honorable Paula Dockery

Room 326
Senate Office Building
404 South Monroe Street
Tallahassee, FL 32399-1100

November 6, 2005

Dear Mrs. Dockery:

I have discovered that certain news media outlets have undertaken to publish or broadcast names, addresses, and other personal information belonging to Florida citizens who have exercised their right to obtain a Concealed Weapon Carry Permit. It is outrageous that such information is available to anyone other than bona fide law enforcement personnel acting pursuant to a search warrant.

First, criminals can study such lists to determine which persons to victimize and which to avoid. Concealed carry constitutes an effective crime deterrent only if criminals do not know which of their prospective victims might be armed. To publicize the identities of concealed carry permit holders is thus tantamount to giving enemy personnel access to classified information.

Second, publicizing the identities of concealed carry permit holders constitutes a gross invasion of privacy. When we give the government our sensitive personal information, we have a right to expect that this data will be fully protected and held in the strictest confidence.

Third, decent, law-abiding citizens may be reluctant to apply for a concealed carry permit if they know that their personal information is not protected.

Fourth, this information could be used by employers, anti-gun groups, and/or other entities who are hostile to the right to keep and bear arms to target law-abiding citizens for discrimination, harassment, or worse.

For all the above reasons, I strongly demand that you introduce legislation to fully protect the privacy of all information regarding citizens who apply for and/or who hold Concealed Weapon Carry Permits.

It is essential to immediately know where you stand on this vital issue.

Your prompt response to this letter will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your kind assistance.

Sincerely,

Robert W. Baldwin

Everything is backwards!

In 1988, the voters of Florida amended the State Constitution to make English the language of official business for the State of Florida. The legislature has chosen to igore the wishes of the voters and, instead, proposes that we make the speaking of Spanish a requirement for all Florida elementary students.

Pirate = Islamic Terrorist

Debbie Schlussel nails them again!

You've, no doubt, heard the news story of Islamic terrorists from Somalia trying to hijack a cruise line, off the coast of Africa, this weekend. The men were armed with assorted weapons, including guns and grenade launchers.

But the media called them "Somali pirates." Guess what religion virtually all Somalis are? Hint: It begins with an "I," ends with an "M," and has "SLA" in the middle. Here's another hint: The leader of the "Somali Pirates" is named Mohamed Abdi Hassan, clearly an Islamic name.

Down under they're telling the story the right way.

Terrorists suspected of cruise ship attack

Who really blew the CIA's cover?

Must read...

Two Questions for George Tenet
The American Thinker, by Herbert E. Meyer

Finally, the spotlight has started to swing away from Lewis Libby and his allegedly perjurous grand-jury testimony toward where that spotlight should have focused all along: on the CIA’s incompetent, weird – and possibly treasonous—response to Vice President Cheney’s inquiry about Iraq’s interest in purchasing yellowcake from Niger.

All this raises two important questions for George Tenet, who was Director of Central Intelligence during all the time that “Plamegate” was going on:

• Why did the CIA, under your direction, treat the Vice President’s query about Iraqi efforts to purchase yellowcake in Niger so casually?

• When Joe Wilson started blabbing in public about his CIA mission to Niger – and lying about what he reported to the CIA upon his return – why didn’t you say something rather than allow the President’s credibility to be shredded?

Andy Rooney: The Word 'Negro' is a Perfectly Good Word

Fan of the word 'Negro'

When's the last time Don Imus or Andy Rooney made headlines? It appears today will be the day. The old curmudgeon Rooney apparently hasn't quite made an appearance into the 21st Century. Most of us haven't noticed as I doubt many still pay attention to the old man that sits underneath those eyebrows.

Making an appearance on Imus In The Morning on MSNBC Rooney said the following...

'I have a problem with the term African American...Rooney says.

"The word Negro is a perfectly good word. There is nothing wrong with that"

What year is this clown living in? Will Rooney take heat for this? Will it be Andy "The Greek" Rooney treatment?

Orrin Hatch Slams Alito Mafia Smear

A talking-points memorandum being circulated by Democrats to friendly media outlets attacks Judge Samuel Alito on the basis of his Italian heritage.

Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch stormed Monday night that the memo was "despicable" and a sign that desperate Democrats are "hysterical" over the Alito nomination.

Hatch made the comments on MSNBC's "Hardball" with Chris Matthews.

Matthews alleged that Democrats are passing around a memorandum that he called a "complaint sheet" about Alito.

The cable talk show host said the lead item in the memo claims that as a federal prosecutor, Alito failed to convict members of the Lucchese crime family in a 1988 case.

The implication is that because Alito is Italian-American he went easy on the prosecution, or worse.

National Italian American Foundation Demands "Scalito" Apology

National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Statement:

The NIAF is distressed by the attempts of some senators and the media (CNN, CBS) to marginalize Judge Samuel Alito's outstanding record, by frequent reference to his Italian heritage and by the use of the nickname, "Scalito."

Appropriately, no one mentioned that Justice Breyer was Jewish or suggested that he was lock-step ideologically with the other Jewish Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, it would have been outrageous to do so. We still do not know Justice Robert's ethnicity.

We are justly proud of Justice Alito's Italian heritage and his sterling academic and judicial records as well as his impeccable integrity. However, he should be considered as an individual. In honor of the memory of the just departed Rosa Parks the Senate champions of civil rights should insist that Judge Alito be considered only on his extraordinary merits.

Sincerely,

A. Kenneth Ciongoli
Chairman of the National Italian American Foundation

AP AND NPR MUST STOP THEIR BIGOTED, ANTI-CATHOLIC ATTACKS ON SUPREME COURT NOMINEE ALITO

Alexandria, VA—“Sam Alito’s nomination to the Supreme Court has pushed the media’s anti-Catholic button, and yet as the record of Justice Anthony Kennedy, a Catholic, shows, such anti-religious labeling is unnecessary,” said Media Research Center President Brent Bozell in a statement released today. “For instance, the Associated Press’s headline over reporter Rachel Zoll’s story reads: ‘Alito Would Tip Court To Catholics.’ Substitute the word ‘Jews’ or ‘Blacks’ for ‘Catholics’ and it would spark cries of outrage.

“Likewise, a report by National Public Radio’s Dahlia Lithwick is just as insidious,” said Bozell. “She reported that ‘people are very, very much talking about the fact that Alito would be the fifth Catholic on the Supreme Court if confirmed.’

“The AP’s biased reporting is clear: Catholic justices Scalia and Thomas take their religion straight from the pews to the bench. In fact, Zoll wrote: ‘Two of the Catholics on the current court -- Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas -- are abortion foes. Scalia, whose son Paul is a priest, and Thomas are sometimes seen walking together to the court after attending Mass on holy days of obligation.’ But as Justice Kennedy’s record of pro-choice rulings proves, being Catholic is irrelevant to serving on the Supreme Court.”

“The only reason anyone in the media would care about whether the Supreme Court has a majority of Catholics is if they were trying to make a bigoted connection between the faith certain justices practice and the job they do on the bench,” concluded Bozell. “Such religious bigotry should be condemned, just as Americans have condemned racism and anti-Semitism.”

FBI: Muslims detained at stadium weren't profiled

President Bush was in the stadium that night!

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (AP) -- Five Muslim football fans were detained and questioned during a game at Giants Stadium because they were congregating near an air duct on a night former President Bush was in the stadium, the FBI said Wednesday.

Some of the Muslims said they did not know they were in a sensitive area, and they complained that they were subjected to racial profiling while they were praying, as their faith requires five times a day.

What does Orlando really need to make it a world class city?

According to the Sentinel...

Here is the vision: a high-quality performing-arts center to expand residents' cultural horizons; a new arena to host concerts and the region's major professional sports team; a remodeled stadium to save a tradition-rich bowl game and attract other name-brand games.
I think they're all wet what's really needed to make Orlando more attractive to businesses and tourists is to address our traffic problem. We can do that by calling on major employers like Disney and Lockheed Martin and ask them to stagger their workforce. Next we need to synchronize traffic lights throughout the Orlando area.

Orange City race rocked by remarks on ethnicity

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting...

The incumbent's criticism of his Indian-born opponent in a City Council contest raises eyebrows and stirs reaction.

During a candidate's forum and again in an interview with an Orlando Sentinel staff writer, Seat 4 incumbent Don Sherrill criticized challenger Tom Abraham.

Sherrill derided Abraham's accent at a political forum hosted and videotaped by the John Knox Village retirement community Oct. 12.

"I don't know what to rebut because I don't understand what he was saying, and I don't mean that facetiously, I really don't understand him," Sherrill, who wears a hearing aid, told the group of about 40 people.

He added that when Abraham speaks at city meetings, council members are "baffled" by what he says.

In a later interview with the Sentinel, Sherrill said that residents would not vote for Abraham if they saw and heard him.

"I'm usually not prejudiced, but I don't want an Indian in my government," Sherrill said.

"As far as I know he could be a nice guy, but these kind of people get embedded over here. . . . You remember 9-11."

Council member Chuck Abell, a Sherrill supporter, reacted with disbelief. Abell said he did not condone "that type of comment," though he agreed Abraham is difficult to understand -- so much so that Abell has asked for transcripts of council meetings at which Abraham has addressed the council.
